How do you improve on awesome? That's a tough question, but the clever folks at
Razer seem to have come up with an answer: Add some molten lava or a raging maelstrom. The gaming peripherals manufacturer announced today the
Razer Naga Molten and Razer Naga Maelstrom special edition mice. Both mice sport the same specs as the
original 17-button Razer Naga plus the addition of new, pulsating designs -- a swirling, cool blue maelstrom or glowing hot lava. If the themes seem familiar, it's probably no coincidence that these mice arrive just in time for
Cataclysm, which is
set to launch on Dec. 7.
The Razer Naga is designed specifically for MMO gaming, with
a special addon for
World of Warcraft, allowing players to bind their spells and abilities to the mouse's numerous buttons. The mouse also
supports key mapping, the way most full-featured gaming mice can be configured, and
also comes with drivers for the Mac. The new designs take the place of the current pulsating Razer logo on the palm end of the mouse, adding a different level of cool to the popular mouse. Either version of the special edition Razer Naga gaming mouse will retail for $79.99 -- about the same price as the regular version -- and will become available for pre-order on Oct. 12.

im lefty too but so many years using my right hand to use the mouse i wouldnt be able to use the left hand with it, it feels weird with a regular mouse

Also a lefty, who also uses my mouse in my right hand, out of habit more than anything else (I'm the same with scissors, because I first picked up a right handed pair of scissors).
Do you reverse the buttons (i.e. is "left click" on the right side button) so that you still hit it with your second finger?
DarkFinch Oct 6th 2010 1:03AM
I do not switch the mouse buttons.
kooda Oct 6th 2010 2:35AM
Yeah i'm right handed but I prefer to use my left haven't done so for about a year due to a lack of decent lefty gaming mice.

You know what they say: "Only left handed people are in their right mind!" ;)
Lios Oct 6th 2010 6:38AM
Agree. About 10-15% of the population is left handed. You would think that's a big enough market to produce for.

No shipping to my country?
I think I should move to Austria.

I like the maelstrom model. It also resembles a galaxy for when you want to get your EVE on.

Supposing these are pretty large mouse-wise so man hands don't mash all the side buttons? Been through 3 mice in the past year and all of them either hurt or just couldn't reach everything.
Richard Oct 5th 2010 7:50PM
I can say that these aren't made for man-hands. I got one and it hurts my thumb to try and curl it enough to reach the bottom row of buttons. Aside from that bottom row, the rest are pretty accessible and after only a few hours of play I was seeing significant improvement.
In the end, though, it wasn't worth the thumb pain. I just went back to my old trackball.

It's about the same size as a regular mouse. Maybe even a little smaller.
Bouille Oct 5th 2010 7:46PM
Diamondback all the way. Not paying extra money for extra colours on a mouse that has extra buttons................
Ethan Oct 5th 2010 8:20PM
Regular one's the same price.

They look pretty damn cool but I can't see spending that much on a mouse. Sorry. The recession is NOT over!
Leviathon Oct 5th 2010 7:52PM
I'll stick with my Logitech MX518.

While those look cool, the buttons seem so small. I use a Logitech G13
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/5123
I love it, 22 keys on the main board, a thumstick, I use one of the two keys next to the thumb stick a CTRL and create another 22 keybinds. For a total of 44 keybinds with only one modifier key. With the thumbstick, I have up, down, and l&r strafe, great for circle strafing in PvP. I suggest it for anyone wanting to throw down money for something like this. I like it better than the G15 keboard because it is separate. Plus with the ability to save 3 sets of keybinds is nice, I even change the background color to match my class; Pink for my pally, green for my hunter and blue for my shamam.
Dreyja Oct 5th 2010 8:44PM
Ah, but imagine using it ALONG with your G13. Tis a thing of beauty. I never have to touch my keyboard. XD But I HATE the keyboard so for a lot of people this would be over-kill.

At first I was like "Oh man, I wish mine had cool lava lights!" but then I remembered I have had the lights turned off on my Naga since day 1. I turned them on for about an hour and didn't like how it warmed up the mouse.
Ethan Oct 5th 2010 8:39PM
Since the finish is engraved/etched/whatevered to get the molten look, wouldn't you kinda feel it after a while?
Drakkenfyre Oct 5th 2010 8:28PM
Depends on what kind of mouse user you are. If you are a "full palm" type of person, or finger-tips only.
