Antec celebrates BlizzCon with hot prizes in Facebook contest

Using Blizzard's games, including WoW, StarCraft II and Diablo, Antec wants you to create something awesome to show off your Antec love. Videos and screenshots are both being accepted, so I know that you aspiring machinima artists can come up with something awesome. Hit the jump for the official rules and pictures of the prizes.
The prizes are pretty cool. One lucky winner will be getting Antec's Dark Fleet DF-85 case and one of their crazy High Current Gamer HCG-900 power supplies as well. Ten second prize winners will receive one Antec Sonata Elite enclosure and one Antec TP-750 power supply. Personally, I'm an Antec power supply junkie, so this probably excites me more than it should. If you're interested in building your own PC, check out some of WoW Insider's own resources on the subject.
Important: Remember to first "Like" Antec's Facebook page. You will be ineligible for the contest unless you give them a "Like."

I like my cases how I like my women ... good looking and well venti ... hm, I'm not sure that works.
woshiernog Oct 7th 2010 3:36PM
@Matt
You reminded me of the guy who preferred holey women. I told him to stay away from guns.
Eregos ftw! Oct 6th 2010 6:10PM
Well, another gold sink. Which, of course, is buying a million costumes for my characters to pose in, and costumes for other characters...

A couple of issues with this.
They are claiming that people outside the United States are eligible, yet they actually don't make any mention at all of how they - you know - plan to bypass the law.
I guess as you need to submit your country, or that you are in Alaska, they can just secretly remove those people from the draw, in effect boosting the free advertising that $3,000 retail (maybe $1,500 true cost) buys as their company name is shown to your friends, and your friends friends and their poodles, and the hairdressers of said poodles.
You can say all you like that people overseas are eligible, however when push comes to shove you can not break the law.
Rakah Oct 6th 2010 8:32PM
Can you referance any specific laws? i haven't had a look
Jay Oct 6th 2010 9:55PM
One such law, in my home state - Victoria Australia - is that; The rules for conducting a trade promotion lottery are set out in the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 (the Act) and the Gambling Regulation Regulations 2005. These act require a permit being paid for and the permit number being shown on all promotional material. Each Australian state has such a law requiring a unique permit number apart from one where trade promotion like this are illegal.
Substantial fines for not doing that. Other countries are very much the same in terms of permit numbers for raffles and trade promotion lotteries.
This is why you always see the "Open to all residents of the 50 states of America except ..." tacked on the end... it is that almost every nation in the world and some American states have laws against lotteries as trade promotions, even if they are games of skill such as this.
Taking Wow Insider's normal rules for example...
[[The WoW Insider Blog Giveaway (the "Giveaway") is open only to individuals who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia) and are 13 years of age or older. Employees of Weblogs, Inc., AOL LLC, its advertising or promotion agencies, those involved in the production, development, implementation or handling of Giveaway, any agents acting for, or on behalf of the above entities, their respective parent companies, officers, directors, subsidiaries, affiliates, licensees, service providers, prize suppliers any other person or entity associated with Giveaway (collectively "Giveaway Entities") and/or the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members (whether related or not) of each such employee, are not eligible. Subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law.]]

Kuro,
I run the Antec Facebook page. We never use the information available to us for malicious purposes. By "liking" our page, you may see our content on your Facebook wall (just like you would from your friends) but nothing will be ever sent directly to you via private message or email (spam). We also *never* contact your friends.
There's a lot of concerns about Facebook privacy because they do make it a bit...difficult...to lockdown your information if you're not familiar with the interface but you have my word - we'll *never* exploit the information available to us through Facebook.
Jay Oct 6th 2010 10:04PM
Jessie, when you see this rule...
[[By entering Contest, entrant grants to Company the irrevocable right without any further notice, review, or consent to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use, worldwide and in any media now known or hereafter developed, including, but not limited to, the entry of winner’s name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image or statements about the Contest, and biographical information as news, publicity or information and for trade, advertising, public relations and promotional purposed without any further compensation.]]
You have to be very, very scared.Promises mean nothing when even just entering allows that amount of use of my personal self.
Anyone who even enters this competition in my eyes needs their head examined. Just on that clause alone. It is pathetically over-reaching and privacy invading.
Didaxical Oct 7th 2010 7:28AM
Jay,
All that clause seems to state is that they can use the entrant's name, image, portrait, etc. in advertising and future promotions without having to pay more money.
It's similar to those "Look at these other people who have won! You could be one of them!" ads.
If one is terribly concerned about the facebook tie-in, it is easy to create a second account with next-to-no personal information. They can't use what is not given to them.
Daniel Oct 7th 2010 6:00AM
I just bought the case myself ;D no comp to hold me down..
Saikoujin Oct 7th 2010 8:03AM
Already have the case, and yes, it is quite lovely. :-)
Drakkenfyre Oct 7th 2010 9:40AM
I will never enter a contest that requires you to "Like" them on Facebook.
I don't use Facebook, I hate it. I miss the days of contests requiring you to simply put your name and email address down. Not help bolster their advertising by making their numbers bigger on their social networking site.
michael.1.bell Oct 7th 2010 10:16AM
SWEET!
All I have to do is win this...and 2 nvidia contests, 1 Intel contest, a Cruzer contest and maybe sell some blood for a new mobo...and I'll finally be able to afford a half-decent gaming machine!
