The Queue: BlizzCon expectations

Today's edition of The Queue is brought to you by our old friend Hawaiian pizza -- or at least, it would have been if I hadn't been half asleep while ordering my pizza and ended up accidentally clicking "add bacon" instead of the topping(s) I wanted. Now my pizza is just covered in poorly cooked bacon bits. Woe is me. Woe.
adalon asked:
Is it just my imagination or has the Cataclysm release date not had the same amount of buzz that previous expansions had?
There is still plenty of buzz in the portion of the audience that doesn't follow WoW news all that closely. For those of us who are here every day reading up on the latest and greatest about WoW, it was becoming incredibly obvious when the expansion would be released. Between the hints/rumors, the arena season news and the known fact that Cataclysm was on course for a 2010 release, there weren't many dates that it could have been this late in the year. Really, most people had already figured out it would be released between X and Y dates and were already planning for it when Blizzard confirmed that the release would, indeed, land on that date. No shocker there.
If Blizzard had announced it a few weeks ago, we would have been much more surprised.
toddless asked:
If you could add any cartoon/make-believe/real-life person to the World of Warcraft, who would it be and why?
The writers of The Queue, obviously. We could all be hanging out together in the Stormwind library, researching answers for all of you.
No, I'm just kidding. My real answer is heavily influenced by the fact that I'm tearing through the Dresden Files books. I think it would be cool to see Michael Carpenter and Amoracchius in some badass paladin tier gear somewhere. He's my favorite character in the series by far. And if you people spoil anything in the comments I will personally destroy every one of you with my mind.
Many people asked:
Hey, your WoWInsider.com domain isn't redirecting us to wow.joystiq.com like you said it would! What's up with that!?
That's an "oops" that is being fixed. It isn't intended behavior. WoWInsider.com should be redirecting you to us, and it will as soon as it's fixed. Heck, considering I'm writing this on Tuesday night, it might even already be fixed by the time you read this Wednesday morning/afternoon. Or maybe not, I don't know. I can't see the future. But it will be fixed some time soon.
JR asked:
Any rumor or speculation on what will be the big announcement at BlizzCon this year?
Blizzard has already published the BlizzCon schedule, so it is incredibly unlikely that it will officially announce any of the games currently in development. I can't see Blizzard's announcing a game and then not using some panel time to hype the heck out of it at a convention dedicated to its products. It would be very silly to announce a game and then not talk about it, so any announcements are probably tied to its three current franchises: Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo.
My predictions: Cataclysm will have its full cinematic revealed. Diablo 3 will get its last class. StarCraft won't get much at all, because the developers have already stated in recent interviews that they're absolutely not ready to talk about Heart of the Swarm yet.

So, I just got the Onyxia (Level 60) Feat yesterday. I got it after finishing "The Only Prescription". I'm pretty sure it's a bug, but do you think Blizz will take away my ach?
(btw - for proof: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-achievements.xml?r=Mal%27Ganis&cn=Saeadame&gn=I+Am+a+Frayed+Knot. Currently first under "Recent Ach" or at the top of the Feat of Strength tab)
(cutaia) Oct 6th 2010 11:16AM
Probably not. It was just activated by you using an item that is technically still flagged as dropping from level 60 Onyxia. I can't imagine taking away your feat of strength is something that the GMs would spend their time on. Besides...if you're going through the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline, you probably deserve a feat of strength anyway. ;)
Matt Oct 6th 2010 11:31AM
Ah, lucky, I haven't even been able to get started on that part of the Blue Scepter chain. WTB MC and BWL runs. :(
And I second (cutaia)'s view. That page of the book is still flagged as dropping off level 60 Ony.

I had a similar thing happen to me, I looted Nefarion's head and instead of getting a quest I got the achievement. I wouldn't worry about Blizz taking it away.
Josin Oct 6th 2010 2:22PM
I had to petition Blizzard to get my book pages from Nefarion and Onyxia, as they simply weren't there to be looted.
I'm all but finished now. 3 more Elementium Ore and a giant shark and I'll be good to go.
I really wish the Scepter was a Feat of Strength. It's a damn epic questline, that's for sure.

I asked this a while back and never received adequate answers.
I've read about Anduin and about baby half-iron dwarf prince, but what happens to the bit player children of Azeroth in Cataclysm? Are the orphans or Orgrimmar all right? Is that girl still chasing her brother who stole the doll? Whither Little Timmy?
My daughter considers those kids her friends, and if anything bad happens to any of them I'd appreciate advance notice so I can prepare her for the transition.
Also, if you've run into any new child characters in your questing I'd appreciate a heads-up on their locations and faction so I can direct here there.

As for William and Donna (and her doll) : last week in the beta I ran into them in Stormwind and was delighted to see that finally, justice has been served!!

Haha, serves that punk right!
I have also heard Lil Timmy is still around, although I can not confirm as I am not in beta.
Nawaf Oct 6th 2010 11:50AM
Anduin is now a teenager. The Bronzebeard baby will probably have a significant role after a long time (at least 3-4 expansions or a new game) or in a future Caverns of Time.
Justin Oct 6th 2010 12:27PM
@Kittens: OH GOD. The new textures for the ground and water up against the old textures for the walls.... OW. It hurts.
Nina Katarina Oct 6th 2010 12:47PM
OK, I am now officially psyched for Cataclysm.
Go, Donna!
Desuka Oct 6th 2010 1:49PM
I bumped into Lil Timmy a few weeks ago in the Cathedral district on the beta, and he was still selling his white kitten. Seems he still walks his old route.

bacon is the best food....unless its undercooked. THAT bacon looked like ham. I would've sent it back for fear of some kinda food poisoning.
thebitterfig Oct 6th 2010 12:01PM
Woe is you indeed, but largely because your pizza shop has sub-par bacon in the first place. Our local shop has giant, crispy strips of bacon when you order with that, and damn is it good.
Zelius Oct 6th 2010 12:09PM
I'm too distracted by the pineapple. I never understood why you'd want pineapple on your pizza.
styopa Oct 6th 2010 12:38PM
Of course, this would be an epic^2 item:

Teebu's Blazing Hellboar Bacon, anyone?
