The Queue: Welcome to arf

In case you couldn't tell, the headline for today's edition of The Queue is a desperate attempt at an Independence Day joke that someone else may or may not have already made. Enjoy!
Darkseid asked:
What is the deal with worgen females? Why do they seem to be taking Blizzard so long to get anything done with them?
I think Blizzard is having a hard time figuring out how to make them look good. What should a female werewolf look like? How do you make them feral but also feminine without making them look completely silly? Should they have hair to make them look feminine (like they had originally) or just big furry manes like the males have, to look feral? Blizzard has done more significant visual overhauls of the worgen than it has of any other race in the game since World of Warcraft's alpha phase, as far as I can tell. Every time it updates them in the beta client, there's something about them that is significantly different than it was previously. The female worgen in the header image? Those screenshots were from just a few weeks ago, and I'm fairly certain the models don't even look like that anymore.
I'll give Blizzard's modelers the benefit of the doubt here; it is legitimately hard to find a balance between feral and feminine when doing this sort of thing. Too feral and people might not want to play them (crazed chihuahua syndrome). Too feminine and things get a little ... weird.
chyllyphylly asked:
What is happening to the WoW Insider Show? The last episode seems to have been 11 days ago.
When we changed domains, it caused some issues with our iTunes feed. That caused recording, editing and scheduling to fall out of the wondrous harmony it had before. From where I stand, things are looking just about caught up now and you should have at least two episodes of the WoW Insider show coming your way this week. We have been recording them this whole time, so if you're a faithful listener of the WoW Insider Show, you have quite a bit of content coming your way.
Adamr1234 asked:
Should I get heirlooms for my alts now or when Cataclysm hits? Also, is it worth giving heirlooms to a level 56 druid?
Buy them now. Immediately, before emblems turn into justice points. The justice point prices are set to scale to how quickly you'll accrue justice points at level 85, which is higher than how fast you'll get them at level 80. So compared to what heirlooms are priced right now, they will be more expensive when their prices shift over to justice points. Unless you're going to wait until level 85 to buy your heirlooms, you'll be getting ripped off.
Debesun asked:
Has there been any word on a fishing bag? I'm sick of having to rinse and (thoroughly) clean my bags to get rid of the smell that always gets the attention of those dang Dalaran alley cats that constantly follow me around.
I know tigrian answered your question sufficiently in the comments yesterday, but I felt I should point out his answer, anyway, because it was something I had no idea about.
Lure Master Tackle Box! It's a 36-slot bag (well, box) that holds lures, fish, Rumsey Rum and just about everything else related to fishing. I dig it.
Johnnytorrance asked:
Is it too early to believe that Blizz might announce the next expansion in this coming up BlizzCon?
Yes.

I thought I was the only one who thought of "Dog Soldiers" as a definitive Werewolf movie!
I agree but I promise you that as long as they are marketing this puppy (lol) they are going to over-sexualize our female toons. It sucks, I don't like it, just like I really hate the thong-plate armor sets either but I doubt they'll be THAT avant-gaurde(sic) w/ female models.
I wish it was just the guys that liked the BOOBIES but I hear A LOT of female players talk about how they want their toons to be sexy. ugh...
Caliea Oct 11th 2010 2:23PM
Interesting idea.... One of the holiday achievements could be to lift the tail of worgen to find out who's a female...
Pyromelter Oct 11th 2010 3:12PM
Okay I see your point, but I counter it with this:
In movies and in general werewolf lore, when you turn into a wolf, you are a wolf. You aren't a bipedal humanoid, you become a canine. Blizzard isn't making a dog/wolf; they are making a humanoid with canine features.
Druid forms not looking different male/female makes sense, because when a druid shapeshifts, he/she is no longer humanoid, and becomes the animal form they are taking.
A worgen in worgen form is a wolf-like humanoid, similar to how a tauren is a bovine-like humanoid. They aren't wolves and cows, they are worgen and tauren - they just have some features that are similar to those respective 4-legged animals. So making a worgen female look like a dog, that just doesn't work, because she will not look like a worgen, but rather like a wolf.

A simple way to avoid "crazed chihuahua syndrome" is to make the female worgen look like *wolves* not *chihuahuas*.

Do feral druid DPS have to share the savage defender mastery with tanks? If so, has Blizzard given any insight into their reasoning?
Noyou Oct 11th 2010 1:44PM
Their reasoning would be there's only 3 specs. Since feral and tanking share the same tree...
Kurash Oct 11th 2010 2:13PM
Feral isn't just a dedicated tanking tree, though, like they're making DK Blood specs. Feral is both for dps and for tanking. So the OP's question is totally valid, I think.
Hanak Oct 11th 2010 2:47PM
The cat mastery is http://cata.wowhead.com/spell=77493
So feral druids have two masteries. See the talent calc: http://cata.wowhead.com/talent#0 for further info on the feral spec in 4.0.1
Josin Oct 11th 2010 1:33PM
Any word on what (if any) additional parts of the pre-Cata event are coming in 4.0.1?
Is this the part where we'll be dealing with the doomsayers wearing sandwich boards? That'd be awesome.
Drakkenfyre Oct 11th 2010 2:19PM
Yes, it is.
Unfortunately you don't get to keep the robe after the questline.
Josin Oct 11th 2010 2:29PM
Oh that blows! :(
At least I can still turn into a gnome and wear my epic Gnomeregan cloak.
Drakkenfyre Oct 11th 2010 3:13PM
There was a weird glitch on the PTR where the robe deleted itself after doing part of the quest.
Go talk to these people.
Talk to person one.
Talk to person two.
"Get ouf of here outsider!"
What?
Try to run around and talk to the other people.
"Get ouf of here outsider!"
Have to run all the way back to get another robe.
The robe deletes itself as soon as you reequip your normal robe after the quest, which sucks. The sandwhich board is an inventory item, and I believe removes itself, too.
Dysmorphia Oct 11th 2010 4:51PM
The robe seemed to delete itself any time you went into water. It was both annoying and funny.
Dreyja Oct 11th 2010 1:41PM
Thankfully that is not the finished model.
Kurash Oct 11th 2010 1:45PM
Well... she's a werewolf. How attractive are human / animal hybrids really supposed to be?
Darkiran Oct 11th 2010 1:51PM
Comparing Live to PTR results in this.
------------------- TIER GEAR CONVERSION -------------------
Triumph Head / Legs / Chest = 11.82 Justice Points per Triumph Conversion or 591 points per item. (Previously 50 Triumph)
Triumph Shoulders / Gloves = 15.9333~ Justice Points per Triumph Conversion or 478 points per item. (Previously 30 Triumph)
Frost Head / Legs / Chest = 11.5833~ Justice Points per Frost Conversion or 695 points per item. (Previously 60 Frost)
Frost Shoulders / Gloves = 11.5789 Justice Points per Frost Conversion or 1100 points per item. (Previously 95 Frost)
------------------ HEIRLOOM GEAR CONVERSION --------------------
Heroism Heirloom Chest / Shoulder = 54.375 Justice Points per Heroism Conversion or 2175 points per item. (Previously 40 Heroism)
Weapons convert at pretty much the same rate.
------------------ Result ?????? ------------------
You'll be able to buy i251 Tier gear quicker in patch 4.0 than current not just because of the ease of access to Justice Points but because the cost is actually decreasing based on the rate of incoming badges.
Now Heirloom items however are becoming excessively expensive in the upcoming patch so DEFINITELY get what you want now.
Amaxe Oct 11th 2010 2:51PM
Ugh. Thanks for the breakdown (though I wish you were wrong). Guess I may end up getting the T10 items rather than heirlooms, as the character with the most tokens has 38.
And before anyone asks... I don't want to do random dungeon finder because my latency will ruin it for the others.
Hanak Oct 11th 2010 2:54PM
how about if I buy the heirlooms now, don't mail them anywhere and log out until after the patch... can I return them then? It would be convenient to be able to make 1500 points like that :p
I'd be within my 2 hours from purchase window.
kooda Oct 11th 2010 3:36PM
Well then, looks like i'm going to have to lump levelling a goblin warrior with beastmaster shoulders. Should be relatively sufficient I just haven't got time to farm out 40 emblems by Wednesday.
