The D rules all!
Squelchy Oct 12th 2010 7:06AM
Doesn't faze you, surely? Unless you're saying the D is not part of the Battle for the Citadel quest in Icecrown.

Unfortunately, this patch marks the end of the World of Warcraft for me. Since I lost my good paying job three years ago and now earn 70% less than I used to, I just don't have the money to replace my PowerPC-based Mac G5. I looked into selling the G5, but it's only going to bring in about $200, not enough to buy something new.
So farewell, and thanks for all the incredibly useful information I've gotten from your site over the years.

Question: Why does this spell the end? Lack of horsepower for the new water effects or some hardwired nerf to your specific system?
Tobias Oct 12th 2010 8:29AM
Though the launcher says that the PPC is not supported, that does not mean that you cant play, it just means that if there are any specific bugs on that system, Blizzard wont fix it.
So please continue to play this marvelous game, even though you might experince some minor bugs now and then :)

Yeah, it's a bummer that even Apple left the G5 is the dust, it's not a bad CPU really (a celeron is a bad CPU). Fortunately you can get a fairly decent rig for $300 (with a monitor) and an adequate video card for $50 more... Check out places like Microcenter, who often has refurbs, discontinued, and open-box PCs for dirt cheap.
Another thing to look forward to are the streaming services like OnLive and Gaikai - where if your rig can run a web browser, you're okay for an MMO.

Tenacious D > Ozzy Osborne

I'm excited, even though there is a little bit of trepidation, to see what all the fuss is about as a non-beta tester. I've kept myself up to date, I've read the helpful posts and such, I'm ready (at least as much as I can be I hope).
I'm hoping for a smooth patch launch and patient players, lots of changes and room for mistakes, so lets try not to all rush to judgment on the death of our class/wow/dungeons/pvp/sparkleponies, etc...

Oh Ten-D..../snooze...... Wake me when they leave. I mean seriously, isn't there a spray for that or something/ Ten-D = Fail

"You hold the scepter, we hold the key,
you are the devil, we are the D !!!!"
And man - I can't wait for the patch to reach Europe tomorrow :D

I am sure someone else has said/noticed this, but even though this patch is not "changing" the world there are textures and such for the expansion. I saw files about the Gileanas BG and some of the new zones.
Combining the wording on the launcher, it sounds like we won't have to "install" the expansion at all. Simply just add the license number to our account and everything will already be in place.

Reduce the alpha of embedded Youtube videos so that pop-overs actually pop over the video. Great music =D

I've not been the biggest Tenacious D fan.
But I've been looting and wearing the Tenacious Defender belt for about 3 years whenever I get to the right level (I pretty much have played plate classes exclusively).
I had no idea until now that it was a (not so hidden but still hidden enough) reference!
MIND BLOWN!
