This is a (relatively) small nitpick, but I'd still like to get some second opinions: what are everyone's thoughts on "Improved Arcane Explosion?" I like the theory behind it, but I don't think it works yet (ie, the global cooldown doesn't seem any shorter). Anyone else getting that?

Sadly, even with Improved Arcane Explosion it might be better to just use Blizzard. I'm not even talking about melee-range issues either.http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1449vs.http://www.wowhead.com/spell=10Blizzard is 74% base mana over 8 seconds, which is basically 9.25% base mana every second.Arcane Explosion is 18% base mana per cast, which is 12% base mana per second without the talent (as it's over 1.5 seconds), or 18% mana per second with the talent. So Arcane Explosion is already much less efficient than Blizzard 12% vs 9.25%, but then the talent makes AE even less efficient. As Arcane depends highly on Mana Adept, I think you'd find it hard to get Arcane mages to AoE in general, much less use the more awkward, less efficient AoE spell. Even worse, AE's coefficient is about 1/5 of Blizzard's, which makes it likely that even the 25% damage from Arcane specialization won't make it better. It could change, though, and I dearly hope it does. AoE is going to matter much less in Cataclysm, but having your subsequent single-target damage suffer because of needing to get rid of a wave of adds isn't very appetizing.
