and this is why I said 'NO FREAKIN WAY' when my bro-in-law asked me to do a roic the instant I logged in today. I'm going to give myself a couple more days to get the hang of my abilities before trying to convince dpsers who are used to AoEing madly through Wrath that they need to slow down, and that I'm not a bad tank. >.>

It's really not so bad. The thing I found best was just to jump in and let them kick you if they must. At least for bears, pallies, and warriors I can hold AOE threat adequately (even with the nerf to Swipe and Conc) as long as someone isn't focus firing on something I'm not targeting. If they're AOEing and I'm AOEing, it's gravy.

I did a heroic last night, and the paladin tank was having to learn how to tank under the changes. They were getting frustrated, but I was DPS and fortunately the other DPS seemed to be patient and let the tank learn the changes as opposed to yelling at them. At one point, the tank asked, "Am I keeping threat better? I can't TELL." and I simply said "Nothing has come hit me in the face that wasn't my fault for being an idiot. So you're doing fine."

I'm a pally tank, and most of the battle is getting used to the new mechanics & cooldowns & abilities AND paying attention to your glyphing. It took us a number of wipes to get through HoR (not helped by a DPS who didn't know he had to visit his trainer & re-spec...*sigh*...and major lag caused by misbehaving addons), and the main issue was getting the DPS to follow my skull mark. As long as they didn't AOE the crap out of the mob, I held threat just fine.
The next random, Violet Hold, it was just fine -- I was more used to the mechanics, and the DPS just hauled off at full power; no problem with threat at all.

sounds like things are shaping up well, then. xP I'll try to scrape some guildies together for some roics over the next couple days...

I've managed okay with tanking on my pally, the worst part is just working out the new rotations. 96969 had such a lovely rhythm to it, all this crusader strike/hammer of the righteous spam just feels...messy.
