Status update on current patch 4.0.1 issues

There has been some confusion regarding the purchase of this skill that we'd like to clear up.
If you had a 310% flying mount learned before 4.0.1 went in you should have automatically been granted this skill. Otherwise, if you wish to fly at 310% speed you'll need to learn Master Riding on top of Artisan Riding.
You have not lost your original flight training, both Artisan and Master Riding cost 5000 gold.
All mounts that previously allowed you to fly at 310% have been converted to standard flying mounts, it is your skill that determines your flight speed.
Note: There is currently not an associated achievement with the Master Riding skill.
Though we do not currently have any updates regarding this matter we are aware of the reported missing enchantments.
We will provide what updates we can when they become available.

There is currently an issue with some Druids where your spellbook directs you to visit a trainer to learn the spell. Unfortunately once you get there the trainer indicates that you already know it.

This feature seems to be a little confusing so we wanted to sure everyone was fully aware of the implementation.
In order to enable the Authenticator option for a particular rank, that rank must be empty.
Additionally, in order to promote or invite a member to a rank that requires an Authenticator that member must had the Authenticator attached to their account for 72 hours.
Due to the new implementation of this feature that timer starts today. You should be able to promote to an Authenticator enabled rank by Friday at the earliest. We apologize for what confusion this may have caused.

We are aware that most Warlock pets received rename after implementation of the patch. We are currently inquiring and seeking further clarification as to if this is an intended change or a not.

We are aware of an issue where some characters are not showing up on the Character Selection screen.
First and foremost know that these characters are not gone, they are simply not being displayed for you. This matter should be addressed with the off-peak restarts scheduled for this morning.

There has been some confusion over a change implemented with 4.0.1. In this patch, items that were not previously at 100/100 durability were all set to that maximum. In many cases this meant that if the item previously had, for example, a 60/60 durability it would now be at 60/100.
You did not actually lose durability in these cases, you gained it. In order to reach the new limit of 100/100 you will need to repair your gear but you should not have otherwise lost durability.
The Game Master department will be unable to provide repair cost or other compensation for this change.

We have received reports in which players are being automatically removed from battlegrounds resulting in a deserter buff.
We are currently looking into this issue and will provide additional information as it becomes available to us.

I think you forgot to mention that all the classes except mage and warlock are broken, with at least one of them completely changed for no reason whatsoever (warrior). Truly, this is the first time I've been deeply disappointed with Blizzard's lack of testing. It's embarrassing for them as a company to produce such a shoddy work and call it production-ready. I have no reason to log in with the current situation on live. It calls for a basic roll-back. Yeah, it's that bad.

'kay.

After tooling around some last night, I can confirm that hunters are... not broken at all. So, you have that going for you.
Traazu Oct 13th 2010 12:56PM
First patch?
Link Oct 13th 2010 1:03PM
As much as I would love to believe that you aren't trolling, I know with an absolute surety that you are.
I have one of every class and I played for several hours last night testing each spec. I haven't had any serious problems with any of them (minor inconveniences, but a patch of this size is going to introduce some strange bugs especially considering the number of fundamental changes involved).
Your warrior QQ is just that. If you believe that the WHOLE patch is so thoroughly flawed because your FOTM class isn't topping charts in sub-par gear anymore, then perhaps you should find a new game to play.
I'm actually thoroughly amazed at how smoothly the transition went. I remember logging in the day 3.0.2 launched and thinking "omg, what is going on....".
Whatever, I guess whiners will whine.
Cataca Oct 13th 2010 1:06PM
Don't know what you call broken because the classes that I played last night did perfect in Heroics. (Paladin, Warrior, Mage, Druid, Shaman, DK) I tried out most of their specs too. Did just fine, some even better than before.
Nethraz Oct 13th 2010 1:13PM
Yeah after playing my DK last night and giving it a good many test runs in the dungeon finder and on the dumby i can say not broken, unless being so fun it was like it was made out of starlight and awesomesauce counts as broke then yes it was broken, one of the most broken things I've played in years. Oh and as for the mages not being broken mine actually is, not in a ground braking way but it's odd, is anyone else finding some of the previewed prime glyphs showing up in their major glyph section?
Scooter Oct 13th 2010 1:17PM
Listen buddy,
PTR's cannot possibly cover everything that can occur when you have a major patch. With a game this size it's just not reasonable to expect Blizzard to be perfect. Besides, the point of this patch is to FIND these issues so you dont have them on Cataclysm's launch.
If your going to make these kinds of comments then do it under the pretense of something other then "I didn't get what I wanted".
Vladeon Oct 13th 2010 1:31PM
I got to say that I agree with Nethraz. If you define broken as incredibly fun and awesome, then my unholy DK was so broken last night I almost peed myself. Popping my ghoul into abomination mode was so much fun. Doing 6k dps in a heroic dungeon that previously I was only doing 2-3k in. and overall the amount of brokenness (RE: awesomsauce) that was my DK could not be overstated. My hunter was also "broke to hell" as I was getting used to not having to buy anymore ammo on the AH.
wow Oct 13th 2010 3:22PM
Why would Blizz put a lot of time into balancing classes for two months? Tell me how that is logical. It's all about Cata, and I'm sure they will be changing a lot in the beta builds.
truffel8 Oct 13th 2010 1:56PM
I accidentally gave a thumbs up to your post instead of a thumbs down. just wanted to clarify.
thegatherer Oct 13th 2010 2:02PM
The solution to this sort of QQ can be found in the following five steps:
1) to direct them to tarde chat, and sit back.
2) get yourself a nice cold drink
3) start trolling
4) ???
5) PROFIT!
Pyromelter Oct 13th 2010 2:09PM
Mage glyphs that should have become prime did not become prime. Also, for some reason, glyph of living bomb turned into glyph of slow. Oddly enough mage dps is absolutely through the roof right now. I would say they are broken in an OP way. (Felt weird and almost like cheating at how OP I was last night.)
Also, mage ward is freaking awesome.

Someone mad because you can't faceroll anymore? I ran a lot of dungeons with my Prot Palli last night. I like the fact that I now have 3 complete AoE's and not just one. However, I was looking at the dps. I could usually pull like 3 or 4k dps as a tank, now Im pulling 1.5k to 2k. But my crits are unreal. I had 8 to 9k Avenger's Sheilds throughout an entire dungeon and got as high as a 12k Sheild of the Righteous with all 3 Holy Power up. I was looking at other's dps too. Some could only pull 500 dps bc they weren't used to the new system. But many times I had mages and dk's pulling off of me constantly doing 6k single target dps and I found that Judgement and Crusader Strike x3 and a Sheild of the Righteous was not enough to cause enough threat without taunting with Hand of Reckoning constantly when I had a mage in my group. A lot of DPS got OP in this patch and I feel like Prot Palli's got single target nerfed (but I can hold great aggro on mobs which is weird) to a small extent. I personally like the new system, it just takes getting used too.
One last thing, did anyone else have an issue where the enemy's health bars would not appear above their heads? I know V does that, I would hit it multiple times, but when I hit V the only thing it would do would add or remove the red names above their names but not the health bars with the red tinge to show aggro so I had a bit of a tough time figuring out which mob I had lost aggro on if it was to a dk or a warrior dps. Maybe it was just me.
PS - Way to puss out and give up QH, just sayin.
cygnus Oct 13th 2010 2:18PM
I can confirm that holy and prot paladin is broken awesome. The new holy spec its just brilliant.
Hunter class is so different I'm trying to figure out what the hell happened... mana gone, tracking gone, ammo gone, volley gone, eyes of the beast gone, aimed shot debuff gone.
Although trap launcher *almost* makes up for all that, tracking shouldn't have been removed.
saregos Oct 13th 2010 2:36PM
@Cygnus
Tracking wasn't removed, it was actually substantially improved. To get to tracking now
1. Click the little magnifying glass next to your minimap
2. Select *all* of the types you want to track at one time (yes, we can finally track Giants and Undead at the same time!)
3. ???
4. Profit. And quit yer bitchin.

While I disagree with the QQ above, I don't think it is productive to downrate comments just because we don't agree. I play a warrior as my main, and love the changes so far. My only annoyance was at the logistics of downloading and installing the patch, as well as updating add-ons, on multiple computers but...that's life in new-patch land. The benefits far outweigh the minor inconveniences.
Let's respect people's right to complain about the changes if they want, rather than just hiding their comments
Meatwadz Oct 13th 2010 3:22PM
Learn your class before you complain about it. My guild and I ran several battlegrounds, heroics and even did ToC (weekly) to practice our new playstyles. At first, there was QQ and much fail to go around. Gradually, after several "OMG this ability does THAT now??!!!" moments, people figured out that there are SEVERAL positive changes in the form of, not just new abilities, but revisited old abilities. To be honest, I am bummed about my loss of pve dps as feral, but I've really only switched spots on the meters with our shadow priest. We all get our time in the dps spotlight and now is his turn to shine.. he deserves it. I don't mind because I'm having a blast playing this game again!
TL:DR - Take some time, go thru your spellbook and READ what everything does. You might find a few surprises and realize you aren't screwed after all.
Hairfish Oct 13th 2010 10:03PM
My 80 warrior alt in crafted blues got through the Tournament dailies last night in half the usual time because of increased dps and less downtime healing himself. If that's "broken," break it some more!
SamLowry Oct 13th 2010 10:49PM
Sorry to rain on everyone's happiness parade, but in an instance last night we had two druid tanks and a druid healer drop out after they realized they had no idea what they were doing and caused wipes. The cooldown on Swipe seemed expecially problematic, and couldn't seem to stay in tree form.
Working as intended?
