Status update on current patch 4.0.1 issues

Master RidingThere has been some confusion regarding the purchase of this skill that we'd like to clear up.
If you had a 310% flying mount learned before 4.0.1 went in you should have automatically been granted this skill. Otherwise, if you wish to fly at 310% speed you'll need to learn Master Riding on top of Artisan Riding.
You have not lost your original flight training, both Artisan and Master Riding cost 5000 gold.
All mounts that previously allowed you to fly at 310% have been converted to standard flying mounts, it is your skill that determines your flight speed.
Note: There is currently not an associated achievement with the Master Riding skill.
Missing EnchantmentsThough we do not currently have any updates regarding this matter we are aware of the reported missing enchantments.
We will provide what updates we can when they become available.

Insect SwarmThere is currently an issue with some Druids where your spellbook directs you to visit a trainer to learn the spell. Unfortunately once you get there the trainer indicates that you already know it.
No update is available at this time.

Guild Issues with AuthenticatorThis feature seems to be a little confusing so we wanted to sure everyone was fully aware of the implementation.
In order to enable the Authenticator option for a particular rank, that rank must be empty.
Additionally, in order to promote or invite a member to a rank that requires an Authenticator that member must had the Authenticator attached to their account for 72 hours.
Due to the new implementation of this feature that timer starts today. You should be able to promote to an Authenticator enabled rank by Friday at the earliest. We apologize for what confusion this may have caused.

Warlock Pets RenamedWe are aware that most Warlock pets received rename after implementation of the patch. We are currently inquiring and seeking further clarification as to if this is an intended change or a not.
We will provide what information we can as soon as it becomes available.

Missing CharactersWe are aware of an issue where some characters are not showing up on the Character Selection screen.
First and foremost know that these characters are not gone, they are simply not being displayed for you. This matter should be addressed with the off-peak restarts scheduled for this morning.

Item Durability StandardizationThere has been some confusion over a change implemented with 4.0.1. In this patch, items that were not previously at 100/100 durability were all set to that maximum. In many cases this meant that if the item previously had, for example, a 60/60 durability it would now be at 60/100.
You did not actually lose durability in these cases, you gained it. In order to reach the new limit of 100/100 you will need to repair your gear but you should not have otherwise lost durability.
The Game Master department will be unable to provide repair cost or other compensation for this change.

Removed from BGWe have received reports in which players are being automatically removed from battlegrounds resulting in a deserter buff.
We are currently looking into this issue and will provide additional information as it becomes available to us.

@SamLowry - yes, they are. Emphasis is being pulled away from aoe tanking, but the design of current content lends itself to aoe tanking, so there's going to be a bit of relearning for classes that got used to charging in and spamming their aoe abilities. It may make the current content a little tougher, but that will help prepare tanks for Cata content where aoe tanking just isn't a viable option. I can't speak as well to how healing is supposed to go now, since I don't really do it, but I know that healing was also intended to change, including making ToL a 30-second ability vs. a permanent form.
So if your druids are causing wipes because they don't know what to do, they need to relearn the class. That doesn't make the class broken.

You fan boys must be oblivious to the massive number of players who don't like the changes. Seriously, are you sure you're playing the same game? I went from sustained 9k dps in heroics to 4k overnight. Fury warrior. Broken. I went from being able to tank and not actually need a healer in a heroic to not being able to hold threat on mages in blues and dying without heals. Prot warriors. Broken. So for people to put some sort of smily face up and prance around like a pony saying things are fine is really asinine. And just plain wrong.
If Blizzard developers read these posts, here's a clue to think long and hard about: "warriors were fine and you broke them".

Yeah Bear droods have it rough right now with a 6 second swipe.
I'm doing fine on my prot pally with 3 sec Hammer of the Righteous, I've just noticed I have to be considerably more diligent on trash packs and switch targets more often. Once we get out of these AoE heroics and into new ones it'll "feel" better for tanks, though the difficulty of the new heroics is no joke.
Old model.
1. Tank runs in. AoE
2. Probably half a second later mage, dk (etc) opens up aoe
3. Healer spams dps who pulled aggro. Maybe tank taunts.
4. ???
5. Profit.
New Model.
1. Tank runs in, Tags bitches. Marks targets.
2. CC and interupts magically fall into perfect place. Burning of skull target commences.
3. Healer is like @#($* holy power?!?
4. ??? (Including a clutch bop on mage)
5. Profit.
Interesting gameplay is interesting. :) I love it.

So are regular 150% mounts now 280?
Drakkenfyre Oct 13th 2010 12:57PM
It's pretty clear what they say.
All mounts now go your highest trained skill. If you don't have 280% trained, you ain't going 280%.
Revrant Oct 13th 2010 5:02PM
So my Black War Ram will go 310%?!
I keed I keed.
quasarsglow Oct 13th 2010 12:50PM
So far, my favorite is that I keep having a magically recurring guild talbard.. but not actually wearing a talbard.
That and the snowstorm of screen artifacts everywhere. Like Christmas with all the red and green squares
Ikane Oct 13th 2010 1:05PM
were you on ex?
:p
Tamednan Oct 13th 2010 1:24PM
I had this same bug on my bank alt! I actually kind of liked the look since it was really just a shirt and not a full tabard. I did find that if I equipped a tabard and took it off the bug disappeared.
Riari Oct 13th 2010 1:47PM
I'm having the same problem with guild tabard when I'm not wearing a tabard. It seems to affect only one character and usually the last one I logged on last. Using a tabard or shifting forms on my druid seems to be the only way to clear it.
Erainag80 Oct 17th 2010 12:28AM
I had that issue as well. I don't wear tabards on my toons unless I'm working on Rep. and I like the look of Prot Palli T9 (although I'm farming T10 like a mofo) and to replaced by the ugly tabard my GM picked out kind of irked me. I just equipped and un-equipped another tabard to reset it.

Sadly, these issues listed here are not any of the ones I am seeing that are a lot worse.
Gammarey Oct 13th 2010 12:52PM
I still haven't managed to log on yet. The patch is still downloading! Don't know why it's taking so long as my internet connection is usually very good!
I actually can't wait to log on!
Spriestess Oct 13th 2010 1:13PM
I'm with you Gammarey... except I finally got the patch downloaded and it's taking hours to install. I got stuck at 12% for about 4 hours the first time so I tried again and got stuck at 49%. I'm trying again (3 hours into installing it at 23%). I think it's a sign from the WoW gods to get away from the computer and go outside :P
alan Oct 13th 2010 4:18PM
You should probably turn off P2P, it famously destroys download speed as it uses up all your upload bandwidth.
Artificial Oct 13th 2010 5:27PM
You can try that, but usually P2P speeds up your download speeds. It should only slow them down if your ISP is engaging in "traffic shaping", which is the nice way of saying they punish you for actually *using* your promised throughput.
alan Oct 13th 2010 5:58PM
@Artificial
In most cases that is true but not with the Blizzard Downloader. It has been extensively proved within the Blizzard forums and with my own testing that leaving P2P on without having enormous amounts of upload bandwidth (which is not the case with most ADSL connections) will slowdown your download to a crawl. This is because all of your upload bandwidth is being given to uploading data, not acknowledging data has been downloaded which slows it down. Most current bittorrent clients allow you to limit uploads so it doesn't affect speeds while still allowing you to upload data. Unfortunately blizzard has started hiding the actual torrent files in the executable so that people can't use their own BT clients. I'm sure they have their reasons but it is a stupid idea to cripple people who don't have greater than 128K upload speeds.
aeleb Oct 13th 2010 12:53PM
any news on enemy nameplates not working properly? or is that just me..?
Drakkenfyre Oct 13th 2010 12:56PM
That was a bug reported on the PTR. Don't expect it to get fixed any time soon.
Sagacyte Oct 13th 2010 1:00PM
it's not just you.
or it's just both of us :D
anyways, I also have a problem with nameplates. Sometimes they don't show, or they show from far away mobs, madness.
