Being one [Sinister Squashling] away from What a Long, Strange Trip it's Been, does this mean I will still have to pony up 5k G for 310 when I get my violet drake? Cuz that would be really, really unfortunate.:_(

most likely, yeah.
That is what the clarification means, yes. Sorry. :/

I am hoping they make an exception this year, and until the end of next year anyone who recieved the Protodrake by the Achievement gets it free. It wouldn't be fair for someone working on it for a year. But knowing how mounts now work, scaling with your skill, they will probably say "You still get the Protodrake", it just doesn't go 310%.

This is 100% bull. I am in the same situation, the RNG screwed me out of my 310% mount last year on the Hallowed Helm or I would have been done with the Meta in June with the Midsummer Fire event. Here we are less than a week away from Hallows End and Blizzard comes and dumps this pile of doo doo on its players.

Awww, me, too, and that's the only reason I wanted the drake. :(

lol, I'm on the same boat. Was waiting for Hallow's End to get my Drake and now this. I'm really disappointed. I worked hard on those damn achievements (I'm looking at you, School of Hard Knocks) so this is really depressing.

Dang. I'm bummed by this, too. I have two toons who need Sinister Calling and then they're done with the holidays. The only squashling I'm seeing this year is the squashling of my dreams. /tear

What a long strange WORTHLESS trip its been! One week. Missed it byone @#$*ing week. Thanks Blizz. =(The ironic part is the achievment I am missing is G.N.E.R.D.R.A.G.E.

i hate to rub it in, but i finally got my drake (and 310% speed) with brewfest....I can imagine how frustrated you are - i certainly would have been if they'd done it before brewfest. I'm not using the mount but just wanted it for the 310 upgrade (as is the case for most people i imagine)The only consolation i can add is that 5K is no longer the barrier it was. when i first got to 70 (having only bought the game after BT patch) it seems i'd never make that much money - now i can make that in a week if i work hard or a month if i slack.its a pain, but its not the end of the world (thats coming in 4.0.3. :P)

Maybe this was the intent all along and i just misunderstood. I won't earn the Violet Protodrake until Noblegarden (and will continue to work towards that achievement regardless), but I was hoping to avoid the 5,000 gold sink. I fully understand that it should be a privilege to fly that fast... was just hoping there'd be an alternate way to get there.Like it was mentioned, 5,000 gold isn't incredibly hard to achieve (unless you're a raving altoholic) and should become easier as we push towards 85.Also, lol @ Scism's comment on the end of the world.

This is completely confusing some people and I don't know why because it's been laid out very simple. It used to be that swift mounts and drakes were only allowed to be used if you had 310% flying speed.THEY HAVE CHANGED THIS! Now mounts don't have a designated movement speed to them. Now you can have 280% flying speed (Regular Flying) and that is what all of your mounts will fly at. When you get your Violet Proto Drake from the Achievement, you'll be able to use it even if you have not yet bought Epic Flying, it just means that your drake wont fly as fast UNTIL you buy epic flying, once you do all your mounts will fly at 310% speed.Long story short, if your mount flys, you can fly it as long as you have BC level flying skill. How fast it goes depends on if you have epic flying or not/\.

@WindIt's horrid RNG, but the only answer is "Oh well, deal with it" which is basically what a gm said to a guildie of mine who was just missing the pet for the meta. Didnt start it sooner? Tough cookies
