The Queue: Pebble

Pebble: the most adorable non-combat pet. If you disagree, you are wrong.
Missemilyblack asked:
Will WoW Insider bring back the Class 101 articles once Cataclysm is in full swing? This may be pathetic, but I rely on those articles heavily when I'm trying out a new spec. It's so nice for a casual like me to get quick advice about rotations, glyphs and talents without much mucking around, and having them updated to include level 85 spells and the new talents would really be a godsend.
Yep, we plan to have new 101 articles for Cataclysm once class balance has stabilized a bit. We really like the 101 articles and we're glad they help people who need it; we just need to make sure that the new ones won't become obsolete too quickly.
Theconman asked:
Question for The Queue, or anyone ... What is the reason for the different color schemes of armor sets? Is it for spec, race, faction? I never really knew what it was ...
First off, sorry your show got canceled. The recolors for most tier sets are either used for heroic versions (à la tier 10) or off-set pieces that drop in the same dungeon tier. Sometimes there are recolors that never get used for anything! It's just a just-in-case kind of thing.
Zheo asked:
Why do so many races (humans, blood elf males, orc males, gnomes, dwarves, Forsaken female) "target" cast with their left hands as compared to the right? Is there some inherent magic reason or are all our toons southpaws?
Though I'm not sure there's an actual written reason for this somewhere, my educated guess is that the right hand is kept free to use a weapon.
Kaminari asked:
Do you think WoW will support 3D in the not too distant future?
It already does, with select NVIDIA cards and a monitor with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Tim asked:
How about that Cataclysm commercial during a football game -- that's weird, right? Like mixing a hot dogs and flan. Beer and mouthwash. Affliction shirts and wizard hats. And so on.
Nerds don't like sports? Pssh. Haven't you ever heard of fantasy football?

Fantasy football is D&D for all the guys who used to beat up the guys who played D&D in high-school.
Phaelan Oct 16th 2010 1:17PM
hey, I played D&D, Magic, Star Wars CCG, etc in High school and Fantasy Football now.
Noyou Oct 16th 2010 1:32PM
I played plenty of sports after high school. Late bloomer I guess. I also played D&D and about every rpg I could find from Atari 2600 (remember the indiana jones game?) on up through playstation and into next gen console games. For the last 18 months or so my life consists of WoW and football :) The guy who got me into WoW is also a huge Bears fan (shoosh) so yeah I think there is a pretty big market for people who watch football and play wow.

Psssh the whole rumor nerds don't like sports is BS. I played football all 4 years in high school well playing WoW in a hardcore raiding guild. Whats that you ask? Did my grades suffer badly from this? Lets just say I am happy my school didn't have a pass to play rule...
tonz0phun Oct 16th 2010 2:24PM
You didn't have a pass to play rule at your school? WHAT THE HELL!?
I have to maintain a 3.2 GPA to stay on the football team! BAH! I didn't have WoW until college so it was easy to maintain those grades.
Hollow Leviathan Oct 16th 2010 3:48PM
It's not a rumor that nerds don't like sports. There's just a higher percentile of us that don't when compared to the nonnerd population. As always statistics are not rules for individuals, nor are they disproven by anecdotal evidence.
Although I didn't offer non-anecdotal evidence in the first place, so, uh, look over there!

3d is fun in wow, but i get a headache after 1 or 2h of play.
its fun as a gadget, that was the reason i bought it.

About the 3d support. It actually used to work but is currently broken in 4.0.1,
as reported on the official forums. I have been used to playing wow on a DepthQ 3d projector, but alas broken now with 4.0.1. I hope Blizz with all their Cata-excitement will get around to fixing it to work again.
Note too, that the NVidia 3d support is a bit marred by how GUI elements/add-ons are displayed: Instead of always staying fixed "at depth 0" (the screen), they pop in and out of the screen at varying, headache-causing depths. And finally, unfortunately the heavens/skyboxes are broken for 3d: Instead of staying "far away in the background", instead they look as though they are about 1 meter into the screen (ie nearer than the far-off mountains). So I always "keep my head towards the ground"- when you look at the sky, you get nauseous :-) ;-(.

How is it for any precise clicking (like looting?) I tried 3d gaming a while ago , and it was great immersion-wise, but was very difficut to click on objects, as they were in two places at once, steroscopically speaking.....
Fifticon Oct 16th 2010 1:39PM
about clicking in 3d: Personally I've never understood the problems people get with it/don't feel them. However, you can choose two behaviours for mouse: That cursor jumps in depth ie follows background, or that it stays "on the glass of the aquarium". Personally, I can only handle "mouse on aquarium glass" - when cursor traces in 3d on background, I get freaked out.

We know that rare mounts now scale with riding skill. My question is does it work the other way too? Will we able to buy epic mounts at level 20 and have them move at 60% extra speed until we reah level 40 and learn Journeyman riding?
Natsumi Oct 16th 2010 12:13PM
Give me a few and I'll find out :)
Natsumi Oct 16th 2010 12:24PM
No, the epic land mounts require level 40 AND riding 2 (or riding skill 150)
