Cataclysm cinematic now available
The Cataclysm cinematic has just become available, and -- words fail me -- it's amazing. Some folks behind the scene here think it's Blizzard's best yet, but personally, I think it's a dead heat between this and the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic.
Interestingly, there are no NPCs or characters of any kind visible in the cinematic apart from Deathwing himself (apart from a quick glimpse of what are probably a few goblin or human-looking armorers). You do see some extraordinary landscapes rendered in high-definition glory for the first time -- The Barrens, Thousand Needles, Darkshore and Stormwind -- and perhaps it's meant as a reminder that the aspect of death was once the aspect of earth and that he hasn't relinquished his power over the latter.
Sorry, gnomes; looks like you're still waiting for a cinematic debut!

You're still talking. You're still sounding like an idiotic child. You're still not saying anything of value.

@ rev
you say there is no lore, as someone who only plays this game for the lore (honestly you can take your class mechanics and stuff and shove it, my class could be nerfed to the floor and i wouldn't care) this video is full of lore, it may not be old lore, but that dose not mean its not lore at all.
The shattering or a quest in azeroth may explain why he had the armor put on again or here are some speculations
1. they are mixing old with new, like "here is what happen in the past and here is what is happening now" type of thing
2. when the other dragon aspects knocked the snot out of him, maybe his armor got damaged or broke and needed repaired.
3. maybe he found something new and stronger to make his armor out of.
if you recall wrath cinematic also had recent lore. in the video he summoned sindragosa i'm pretty sure he didn't do that in warcraft 3 since i play that game all the time. idk i'm probably feeding a troll.

Revrant, there is no need to begin acting in that manner.
You have an opinion. Ok, that's fine - nobody is begrudging you that. I disagree with your opinion. That too is fine. I state the reasons for my disagreement. You state counter points. That's civil, and perfectly okay.
However, degenerating to the point where you have to act superior to validate your opinion is not civil - it's juvenile and disappointing. I disagreed with you over the fact that this isn't a lore centric cinematic, but I never intended to be adversarial.
Now I don't really care, since you've gotten to that point.

It seems like Rev thinks it can't be a lore event if it's ALSO mind-blowingly cool and would not be out of place in an action movie. The two CAN mix.
Seriously, if the trailer showed Grom shooing Trolls and Blood Elves out of Orgrimmar, you would agree that is lore, right? But it's no less significant an event than Thousand Needles getting utterly flooded, or Auberdine being razed to the ground. These are also events which have long-term ramifications -- they just happen to be particularly flashy, as well.
The Cataclysm itself will be in the history books just as the Troll Wars, the Birth of the Lich King, the War of the Three Hammers are. And we just watched a cinematic detailing it -- one of the single most monumental events in the past five years.
I would agree with you on the zeppelin being tossed into a nearby building. That's not anything except a flashy explosion. Pretty much everything else is an event, something which matters and killed tons of people, or altered the face of the planet forever.

Once again I find myself wishing Blizz would just bite the bullet and make a feature length cgi movie.
I would totally pay to watch it on an IMAX screen.

Hear hear.
They would do an amazing job.
Felix_rew Oct 17th 2010 5:34PM
They are making a WoW movie, aren't they?
Brandon Tilley Oct 17th 2010 5:54PM
Yes, but it's not by the WoW cinematic team and it's live action, not CGI.
Dreyja Oct 17th 2010 6:13PM
May I add my vote to this! I wince when I think that the WOW movie is going to be live-action. It could be as awesome as LOTR but it could also suck donkey balls like Dungeons & Dragons.
CGI would be so amazing. They wouldn't have to worry about tweaking the storyline around the harder to cast races. Just DO EET BLIZZ!
Spider Oct 17th 2010 6:25PM
I'm right there with you in wanting a full-length movie, but realistically I don't think it's remotely feasible. The amount of time and money spent into putting together these 2 minute trailers is astronomical. A full 60-90 minute feature would just take forever, and probably not be logical.
I wish it was so, but I know why there won't be one. :(
Dreyja Oct 17th 2010 8:18PM
Oh I get why it's unlikely, if not impossible but it doesn't stop me from dreaming.
jealouspirate Oct 17th 2010 5:02PM
Utterly astounding. I'm just watching it over and over.
My only complaint is that it's 2.5 minutes long, not 2.5 hours long.
Sithril Oct 17th 2010 5:22PM
There is no mortal on earth that could watch a full 150 minute video of such epic proportions!
They'd feint after 3 minutes. But it would be the most wonderfull koma ever.
Sanguinarius Oct 17th 2010 8:00PM
I could.
brian Oct 17th 2010 10:24PM
Well, feint reduces damage from aoe by 50%, so it'd let you survive the massive bass of all that action easier!
gaza Oct 25th 2010 8:05AM
if youd feint after 3 mins, its good its only 2.5 mins long then!
quasarsglow Oct 17th 2010 5:03PM
Squee!
I .. have nothing but squee!
Cadychan Oct 17th 2010 5:03PM
I liked the Wrath cinematic because it was very emotional. That sung solo of that woman made my eyes well up with tears. It was very melancholy.
THIS....on the other hand. This...is just....oh man. Ooooooooh my God. O_O;;;
Daeolt Oct 17th 2010 5:07PM
If I may..
The person who sung that song was a boy. (A very young one at that, not even in middle school if I remember correctly. O_O) His voice really is amazing and when Blizz heard a little of his singing they quickly said "This is our guy."
You can see him/Blizz talking about him in the Wrath DvD thing (CE Edition) but you can probably find it on YouTube. Just look up "Wotlk CE DVD Music" or w/e.
Bryan Dare Oct 17th 2010 5:11PM
Actually that was a boy singing that, unless I'm confused as to what you're talking about, which is highly possible because I... what was I talking about? Deathwing, right? DEATHWING!?!?? o___O
