I'm completely out of witty intros. It's Sunday! Deal with it!
DarkSpade asked:
Was the WoW miniatures game ever officially announced as dead or is it still out there flapping in the breeze? Any chance of it coming back?
The license for the WoW Minis game was originally held by Upper Deck, a company with whom Blizzard no longer does business. Cryptozoic, who picked up the WoW TCG license, did not pick up the Minis license. I think you can probably extrapolate the status of the WoW Minis game from there.
Roht asked:
Is there going to be a Ring of Blood/Amphitheater of Anguish type of thing in Cata?
Yes: the Crucible of Carnage, located in Twilight Highlands. There's also one in Gadgetzan, available at level 46.
Blightmare asked:
I have a question about Wintergrasp's early stages, because I was looking at my Wrath box and when I opened it I was reading all the things you would be able to do in Wrath, one of which jumped out at me. "Engage in aerial dogfights with flying mounts and new gnome engineered planes". Was this in beta but they scrapped it or did it make it to Wrath but they took it out early?
Dogfights were indeed originally in Wintergrasp, but they were removed due to balance and gameplay issues. At least that's what Blizzard said.
Coincidentally, certain testers would just crash the planes into the fortress towers while yelling ... well, I'm sure you can imagine what they would be yelling. No, I'm not making that up. I'm inclined to believe that those guys singlehandedly got flying vehicles removed from the game, no matter what Blizzard says.
Sal asked:
Any chance the War Against the Nightmare will make it into the game in some form?
The major Emerald Nightmare storyline was mostly resolved in the Stormrage novel; however, the book dictates that the remnants of the Nightmare were banished to the portion of the Emerald Dream called the Rift of Aln, which coincidentally is the name of a track on the Cataclysm soundtrack. Intriguing, no?

I'd say no.
Level requirement for what?
Killik Oct 18th 2010 6:57AM
No, you will still need to be at least level 1.
David Oct 17th 2010 12:20PM
Will there be a looking for guild interface in Cataclysm?
Tbah Oct 17th 2010 12:47PM
No.
Vaenor Oct 17th 2010 12:22PM
Besides Operation Gnomeregan and Zalazane's Fall, I mean.
Enishikaze Oct 17th 2010 12:22PM
What ever happened to those Tauren weapons from WarCraft III? You know, the giant log things.
Kar Oct 17th 2010 12:55PM
Well, plenty of NPCs seem to have them. I suppose they figured anyone besides a giant tauren male would look outrageous trying to actually use one, so they aren't available as gear.
Dril Oct 17th 2010 1:14PM
The Scottish race and their diverse log-using mechanics were dropped from the game, hence leaving only the Horde with log-users. Hence, they were made into NPCs for WoW.
Attempts to get the race (or a similar log-using one) made for the Alliance are, as of yet, fruitless; Worgen scratch logs, and Spacegoats crash crystals into them.

Poor poor Gamon.

Will there be underwater battlegrounds/arenas?
Joseph Oct 17th 2010 12:30PM
I read somewhere that they were going to vastly change the racials of every race out there. Did they end up doing that?
Boobah Oct 17th 2010 10:08PM
So far as I know, the only changes made to racials are that 1) the Draenei hit aura is now a self-buff only, and 2) Orcs now only get 3 expertise for fist and axe weapons.

Don't mention the books of Knaak :-/
Pwnzoar Oct 17th 2010 2:46PM
When a question is asked regarding something that is covered in a canon book, it has to be mentioned.
Prissa Oct 17th 2010 4:35PM
I guess I might be able to take a stab at an answer of my own, but...
I've not read the Warcraft novels. I started to read my bf's copy of Arthas but didn't get to finish it. Every time someone mentions this guy there are responses like- KNAAAAAAAAAAK. So, what's wrong with him? I mean if he writes for Blizzard and they like his work, what could be so bad about it?
Felix_NZ Oct 17th 2010 4:43PM
One word. Medan
Then go look up "Marty Stu" on TVtropes.
Kylenne Oct 17th 2010 6:13PM
@Prissa: First off, Knack didn't write the Arthas novel, the good writer did (Christie Golden, though IMO it was her weakest work).
Secondly, Knaak's flaws are immediately apparent to anyone's who's actually read good fantasy novels. They read like bad fanfiction, to put it mildly, and fail even by the much lower standards of video game tie-in novels (compare any one of his books to "Dragon Age: The Calling", as an example). His Stu fascination has been well-documented, as has his utter inability to write a decent female character (Tyri might well be the only exception to that). I'm not really sure why Metzen likes him, other than the obvious pot shot that Metzen's a guy who couldn't even remember his own canon. But it's my opinion Blizzard keeps employing him because anything with the World of Warcraft logo on it flies off the shelves. He's a known quantity that can produce buckets of sales, and in the world of publishing, that's all that really matters (see also: Meyers, Stephanie).
Terrant Oct 17th 2010 7:48PM
Med'an first popped up in the comic written by Walt Simonson, but in anything written by Richard A. Knaak.
Terrant Oct 17th 2010 7:50PM
Er, that "but in anything" was supposed to be "not in anything".
