@Prissa: First off, Knack didn't write the Arthas novel, the good writer did (Christie Golden, though IMO it was her weakest work).Secondly, Knaak's flaws are immediately apparent to anyone's who's actually read good fantasy novels. They read like bad fanfiction, to put it mildly, and fail even by the much lower standards of video game tie-in novels (compare any one of his books to "Dragon Age: The Calling", as an example). His Stu fascination has been well-documented, as has his utter inability to write a decent female character (Tyri might well be the only exception to that). I'm not really sure why Metzen likes him, other than the obvious pot shot that Metzen's a guy who couldn't even remember his own canon. But it's my opinion Blizzard keeps employing him because anything with the World of Warcraft logo on it flies off the shelves. He's a known quantity that can produce buckets of sales, and in the world of publishing, that's all that really matters (see also: Meyers, Stephanie).
