Hallow's End falls upon Azeroth once again, and it's the same old, same old. But the same old thing actually never gets old, because this is quite possibly the most fun yearly event in the game. It's that time of the year where the typically empty and unloved Scarlet Monastery graveyard gets more than its welcome share of visitors and its summoned inhabitant gets farmed endlessly for his drops -- or I should say,
one particular drop. At this point in the game with
Cataclysm on the horizon, pretty much everybody has gotten what he needs from the
Headless Horseman, who drops mostly ilevel 200 gear. With just a few weeks to go before players level past 80, there isn't anything that won't be obsolete.
That said, I have a sentimental attachment to the
Horseman's Horrific Helm, which I have macroed to use with my
Hammer of Wrath, which I have to admit is terribly annoying (and extremely spammy now in
4.0.1). I think I'll be paying the horseman a visit again this year, even though the only thing I really want off him is his horse. What are your Hallow's End plans? Is this the only holiday you need to
finally get that 310 percent mount speed? Perhaps you want that
Sinister Squashling pet? Are you complete with
all your achievements for this holiday -- on
all your alts? Tell us your plans for this holiday, one of the last yearly events we'll see in old Azeroth.

I want to get hallowed title on my druid. he's my main and has all the titles this year to date except Patron (stupid PVP garbage...) but I will probably just wait until after maintenance (which I'm sure we'll have) to kick the Lich King's er the Headless Horseman's ass. And maybe get his ass as a mount in the process. :)

My alts are a little disappointed the free epics are still only ilevel 200. But hey I won't whine too much, Blizz is busy with much more important things.
HE is one of the most atmospheric of the WoW hols and my favourite for sure.

The reins are from the bag now too?

As the RNG god decided not to give me any Brewfest mount while giving guild members one to four PER DAY, the Horseman better make amends.

I am hoping to finish the achievement this year. I would LOVE to have the mount, I know its unlikely that the first year that I try to get the mount, that it will actually drop for me. I struck out at brewfest, although I did get some nice trinkets. I love this holiday. I hope some of the issues are fixed before I get a chance to play. :) Good luck everyone!

My plans for Hallow's End are to stay as far away as possible.
/me toddles off, grumbling like the grouchy old man he is.

I woke up early today to do the run so I could have an "extra" chance if the dungeon lock reset later I wasn't sure but I'm glad I woke up early, I got the mount in my DK tank which doesn't have any mounts :)
Good luck to those looking for the mount as well !

Well, all I planned on was farming for the mount...and I got it on my first try last night after never even seeing it drop the last 3 years :D

I only hit 80 very recently, so Brewfest was the first holiday that I fully completed, and hope to keep that trend going with Hallow's End, so I can eventually get the proto-drake.
I'm also hoping I get the mount, because I didn't get either mount from Brewfest. :( I did get the broom so far, but it's only temporary...

Wow lots of people getting the mount already! That's promising, I did it every day with about 5 different toons last year and never even saw it drop let alone roll on it.
Kylenne Oct 18th 2010 1:49PM
My DK got it on his first run this year, after seeing it never drop once doing it 5 times a day every day last year. I swear they upped the drop rate, because that wasn't even the first time last night I saw it in someone's bag.

I was very lucky last year and got the mount on my main. Since I also finished the What A Long Strange Trip It's Been achievement a few months ago, I'm really happy that it now goes at the 310% speed. I'll enjoy getting the Magic Broom mount as that's fun, especially for a Mage, and now that it'll go 310%, too, I don't have to select the Violet Proto-Drake just for its speed, but now I can choose my mount based on the particular style I want at that moment.

Does anyone know what level you have to be to get the horseman to show up in the dungeon finder tool? I found old comments on wowhead that said you had to be 75 to summon him, but i have a 76 alt that I wanted to get the achievement on and don't know if I will get him to 80 before the event is over.
Croe Oct 19th 2010 12:30AM
I suspect that with the RDF it will be the same as it was with Brewfest. You had to be level 78,
