Blizzard has added to its continuing official
Cataclysm previews with a sneak peak at
the Stonecore, a 5-man regular and heroic dungeon located in Deepholm. From the preview, we learn that the Stonecore is where Deathwing
had been fixed up with elementium plates by the Twilight's Hammer cult, as well as the exit point used to shatter the World Pillar, break into Azeroth and start causing us trouble. Check out the
official preview for more information and some pretty screenshots.
From my personal experience in beta, Stonecore is one of the most fun dungeons and heroics that I've run. It's frantic and fun, and the final boss is something really awesome and unique. You'll love this place.

Every other source I could find said Deathwing's armour is adamantium. Is it a mistake on Blizzard's part, or did Deathwing make a switch to elementium?
MrJackSauce Oct 18th 2010 11:00PM
Oh god i spent all day going around and trying to find out exactly what it is. In many official places it is called Adamantium, in other official places (mainly blue posts) they refer to it as Adamantite.
Now they call it Elementium in the Stonecore review....

Pretty sure the Twilight's Hammer-forged Elementium plates are an upgrade over his 10,000 year-old Adamantium plates the Goblins forged.
Psiwave Oct 19th 2010 1:46AM
Yep, it's an upgrade, the adamantium was loaded with arp, the elementium plates are mastery pieces.
BigBadGooz Oct 19th 2010 7:54AM
He got a new elementium transmission a carbon fiber drive line a Kenny bell stage 2 blower and new headers in the last upgrade.

If only I'd won one of the numerous contests I'd entered, or gotten an invite from one of my multiple active WoW accounts, I'd be happy to test that content.
Instead, I'll hear about it from my friend who canceled his account a year ago, and recently got a beta invite...

Wow, quitting smoking is making me crabby.

Hmm, why was Yogg-Saron not willing to spill out enough saronite for the Old Gods' most and strongest loyal servant???
And look at all the holes in Deathwing's wings...
Just because you are the Deathwing, doesn't mean your wings have to be so worn out.
...
I feel bad for all the Twilight Cultists, serving those stingy 'Gods'

Psh, Saronite is so last expansion. Elementium is where it's at.
In all seriousness though, he was at the heart of the elemental plane of Earth, so getting a metal forged of an ore pretty much consisting of pure Earth and other elements is a pretty good fit for the former Aspect of Earth. The fact that it was readily available also helped.

what? stonecore isn't the favored music of the earthen ring?

"Sneak peak" or "sneak peek"?

"Most troubling of all are reports of a monstrous stone wyrm lurking in the shadows of the subterranean region."
I'M GONNA PUNCH THAT STONE WYRM IN THE FACE!!!

Who else plans on calling Heroic Stonecore, "Hardcore"? I hope it has some good drops so we can do some "Hardcore grinding"....
