With the release of patch 4.0.1, Operation Gnomeregan is no longer with us. But you can remember the event forever with Operation Gnomeregan by Cryssy and featuring Wick.
The graphics in this video were pretty impressive to me. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but they flowed much more smoothly than I had anticipated. The lens flare seemed a little strong to me in places, but the effect definitely conveyed a sense of technology and struggle. The vocals were also strong and showcased some nice expansion in Cryssy's skills. I look forward to seeing what comes next. Interested in the wide world of machinima? I LOVE the song! Is there an mp3 available for download anywhere?
It's funny, I recently switched from Horde (and all my Belf toons) to Alliance to follow my guild, and it got me back to my gnomish roots from when I started the game 5 years ago. This song puts a smile on my face. :)
Help me! I'm trying to find a video with a dancing orc female, dancing around the world... I think it was on Moviewatch awhile ago but I just can't find it. Oh and it was a musicvideo I think
Horrible. Everyone is too busy trying to use Autotune so they can sound just like everyone else using Autotune instead of actually doing anything creative with it. It's kind of tragic because Autotune really could be such an amazing tool for musicians if everyone wasn't so intent on exploiting it to bastardize their craft.
I'm not going to lie, my voice is different from MANY other singers (Sharm, Isolte, Summergale) including main stream singers. The way I relate my voice to anyone is going STRAIGHT to Lisa Lavie. I have a very husky voice and a very large range, so it's kind of hard to avoid using autotune in a song that sort of needs the distinguishing factor of an electronic sound versus .. my voice :P
Different people have different voices and unfortunately, most of the time you need to alter a songs instrumental in order to fit the voice. We were on a schedule so it was really hard to get that hard electronic sound without the autotune.
1. Auto tune was used as a synthesiser as it is an electronic song. If you doubt my capability, please reference my channel/irl channel. 2. It was titled Operation Gnomeregan (spelling error) because the original is "Operation Reminder" 3. I'm tired.
Thanks Michael for posting this, appreciate it! Lu!
From the writeup and the tittle, I was expecting a send-off to the Operation Gnomeregan event. This is not that video.
The actual music tittle is Operation Reminder. Operation Gnomeregan. I get it. As a stand-alone work and a parody of the original song, this video works. That takes getting beyond the feelings of bait-and-switch (aside: never double-date with Conflict Diamond). Forget the introduction and the piece is good work; at least on par with most works we see showcased.
Although... it would be really nice to see this quality of work put in to the aforementioned send-off to the much-too-short Operation Gnomeregan event.
Not a good move to bill this as related to the actual in-game event, much less claim it as a way to "remember the event forever", Michael. It just sets people up to be critical of the machinima because we were led to believe it was something else.
Completely agree. I hated this video mostly because I was expecting it to be a cute little film of the Gnomer event so that those that did it could remember it fondly and that those that didn't could see what it was like. This..... Wasn't anything like that. I suppose the video was okay, but it wasn't anything like I thought it would be so I like it less than I could. If that makes sense...
Also, WTB less auto-tune. The maker makes a comment that her voice is too husky to sing electronica, but I don't think that's a good excuse. Just because the majority of mainstream singers don't have husky voices doesn't mean that our brains will explode if we hear a husky voice in a genre that it usually isn't found in. And if you really hated the way your voice sounded when you sang this, find someone with a voice you think is more appropriate and have them sing it! Instead, the singer's voice sound whiney and metallic which I don't think helped this song at all.
Autotune CAN be overused, but in some cases it's meant to be used heavily. In the case of a song sounding techno, or in this case, sounding electronic, it's intentional.

What the EFF are you talking about Mr. Grey? Did you even WATCH this?
The video itself was interesting to watch, and definitely had some great techniques added, I didn't mind the auto-tune, it fit the 8-bit soundtrack, etc. But how in the EFF did this machinima in any way, shape, or form, apply to your opening statement about this clip?
I don't give bad reviews often but this work was not worthy of being featured on Wow Moviewatch. After reading your glowing review of the video I was prepared for a much better piece of work that had something to do with Operation: Gnomeregan.
I was not expecting a poorly shot, poor edited, non-story, showcasing a very bad, over- modulated song. This frankly was a piece of crap and I am left wondering if you even watched more than the first three seconds of this "work" before you wrote your review.
You lost a TON of credibility with me on this one, Mr. Grey. Please take your role as a reviewer more seriously in the future.

The voice without the tuning (for effect more than vocal correction) is needed to make the vocals match how electronic the song is.

Can't say I enjoyed it. The video wasn't great at all, though the sound of the song was alright, despite the lacklustre lyrics.

Seriously, this was the suckiest bunch of suck that ever did suck!

No nudity warning?
It doesn't bother me, but I know it will bother some people.

How can you say the vocals were good when it's so heavily auto-tuned?
