Finding the crystals in Un'Goro crater, when I first started playing.
I knew so little of the game and what things mattered, so once in a while I'd get a "gold craze", thinking I had finally found "the motherlode of LOOT". I loved sneaking into zones that were way above my head, and felt thrills of danger whenever I either escaped a "skull" mob or got killed by one. Like small kids view adults, I assumed max-level people had learned and knew the secret to life. So I was sneaking around the outskirts of Un'Goro, with my late-thirties-early-forties toon, and looting the glowing crystals like there was no tomorrow! I had no idea what they were for, but being so colourful and shiny, surely they had to be IMMENSELY VALUABLE?!
Before I really found out what they could be used for, I had already gotten distracted by something else in the game, so I never got to feel any huge disappointment from it :-).

Oh dude, I know exactly what you mean! I felt the same, that they must be extremely valuable but never had the let-down because there was always... /distracted by shinies
