Memorable moments, all in vanilla -
Already written about this one, but I'll write it here too: my first character was a nelf druid. While exploring one day I found the boat in Rut'theran that led to Auberdine, and so I hopped on and took it. I remember watching Teldrassil fade away into the distance, how big it was, and seeing the other continent get closer and closer. When I got there I looked at how big it was, seeing the coastline fade into the distance, and thought, "Holy shit, this is HUGE."
Another memorable moment is seeing my brother get lost in Stormwind. It was so far away from Auberdine - the city was enormous. My brother couldn't find the way out. I wanted to go there.
A third - joining my first raid on the crossroads. I was level eleven, and ran all the way through Darkshore, through Ashenvale, and was elated to discover the damaged fence to the Barrens. I don't remember getting very far in the raid - but I remember being amazed and the thrill that ran through me because I was in Horde territory, and someone could kill me at any minute!
Last one - a friend teaching me how to get to Stormwind. I took an epic, 45 minute journey while level 10, evading crocs, slimes and orcs. Was so happy when I got to Stormwind! Was less amused that I couldn't afford the flight back to Menethil Harbour. ;)
