The Queue: No sleep 'til BlizzCon

I got no sleep. None. BlizzCon. Today is party. Trying to sleep on plane. Writing this Wednesday, thinking about sleep on plane. Pretty butterflies, where did you come from? I will dance the dance of fire.
No, really, tonight is the WoW Insider reader meetup at the Anabella in Anaheim. Get ready for pretty much the greatest night of WoW nerdity, prizes, fun and everything awesome. If you're going to the party, please say hello. Especially you WoW Insider Show fans -- I expect to see you out in full force spreading the good word.
Starlin asked:
I want to go to the BlizzCon meetup, but I'm hopelessly introverted. Is there room for someone like me to lurk in the background? Or will it just be awkward?
If you go to the BlizzCon meetup, I can almost guarantee you'll end the night talking about nerdy WoW crap with people just by finding someone who plays your faction and has an opinion. We all need a code phrase for someone who wants to strike up a conversation.
The secret WoW Insider reader meetup code-phrase is: "Hyjal or Vash'ir?"
Bourne asked:
Will we be able to spend the justice points we earn now on level 85 gear later?
You certainly will be able to spend those justice points on gear. Specifically, you will be able to spend justice points on the "previous" tier of gear. When the game launches, the valor point gear will be the first raiding gear, so the first justice point gear will be heroic blues. Personally, I am going to hang on to my justice points to buy key tanking gear for heroics so I can get into those dungeons faster.
DarkFinch asked:
It's a question that NEEDS to be asked and answered. The whole of Azeroth depends upon this very important question. We need to know. Which "Barrens" is going to take over for Barrens trade chat? I mean, will I have to fly to Northern Barrens to get my fill of Chuck Norris jokes? Or will the Southern Barrens satisfy my cravings for the inane? This is something that needs to be known by the entire world ... of Warcraft!
Trade chat.
Eff asked:
I'm suddenly able to equip fist weapons on my enhancement shaman, and not only that, but weapon skill is gone. I looked for patch notes about the disappearance of weapon skill and shaman fist weapons but found nothing. Are these official changes or bugs?
Weapon skill has gone the way of hunter mana and paladin usefulness. Gone. Completely gone. And, really, it should have been gone almost six years ago when the game released. Weapon skill was an old relic of the EverQuest and WoW beta MMO days. Now, it's an antiquated annoyance that just served to stifle players and their equipment.

Midnight Pacific time.

LoL @ pacific time. Wrong continent, man.
Drakkenfyre Oct 21st 2010 11:54AM
Did you think, maybe doing the conversion yourself?
Jorges Oct 21st 2010 11:54AM
I want to know this too. I'm planning on buying a digital copy since I can't travel to the US right now. So, buying and downloading before release day would be perfect. They did it with Starcraft 2, hope they do it with Cataclysm.

On my realm it used to be Stranglethorn Vale chat that was the designated Barrens. That's going away too I guess?
Lux Oct 21st 2010 11:39AM
STV is being split into two as well. On my server most people avoided STV altogether so if anything I would imagine that on most servers there will be more chat. As for Trade chat being the new barrens chat I would say that since the patch it has gotten a lot better. The limiter on spam has made the channel such that people can read what is being written and normal trade can actually happen.

I am a little disappointed that I haven't gotten a worgen or goblin halloween mask in my trick or treat bag yet. Are they not in the game yet?
Pumabackup Oct 21st 2010 11:40AM
actually, those have been in game since last year...they were the first hints that those were the new playable races.
VioletArrows Oct 21st 2010 1:15PM
I was wondering that myself. I'm still getting a bunch of the original masks. But not the ones I need for the big achievement. -_-*

"Weapon skill has gone the way of hunter mana and paladin usefulness."
I gave a sad little LOL here.
My shaman is more powerful than ever. Once I respecced from Unholy to frost, my DK is almost as powerful (she was once my weakest). Unfortunately my Retadin is pretty useless now.
matticus Oct 21st 2010 11:59AM
I don't get this - my retadin has been sitting square in the middle (#8 on 25, #3 on 10) of ICC boss parses since the patch. That doesn't sound so great except I only have 5100gs in Ret (I like to tank, but so does everyone else in my guild).
Maybe the high skill players notice something I don't...
Pyromelter Oct 21st 2010 1:33PM
ret pally damage is fine now. If your damage sucks, then it's a problem between the chair and the keyboard, not with coding in the game. You won't top the meters, but you shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom.
Rob Oct 21st 2010 1:52PM
@Matticus Fears of class X's demise have been exaggerated. I find that if i stop looking at the current trends in class warfare (such and such class is OP, such and such class got a nerf), and just accept whatever they throw my way, I'm happier. Either that, or go play another game or play another toon. Its like my tree druid, i'm still really pissed they 'nerfed' tree form. But there's nothing I can do. Either accept, or do something else.

on a similar note, Holy Paladins are now one of the strongest healers in the game. We've received massive buffs to healing. My quick and easy heal now heals for 20k non crits and 35k crits. My expensive heavy spell heals for well over 30k non crit and I've had it crit for 50k AND it's at a 2 sec. cast time with my current gear.
To put this all in perspective, I healed 10 man Dreamwalker last night and was putting out 150k non crits. Hit my wings and my CDs and then used Lay on Hands and healed for 270k.
So no, paladins aren't useless.
Vrykerion Oct 21st 2010 2:58PM
@Rob Yay! I'm the not to only one who thinks that way! :D After all, the game is only as stressful as you are willing to stress out about it!
Brock Soper Oct 21st 2010 11:28AM
Question for the Queue. Anything happening to the Stilwell family in Cataclysm? Did Jordan finish training in Ironforge? Does Daphne still need protecting by Paladin upstarts?
Oni Stardust Oct 21st 2010 11:32AM
I want one of those Aka'magosh shirts. I say this both as a big fan of the show as well as someone who's been greeting his co-workers with "Aka'magosh" just to confuse the crap out of them. Are you selling them? Is that a Blizzcon only thing or can those of us stuck at home also get in on the action?
alpha5099 Oct 21st 2010 11:32AM
Sorry to be the guy re-asking a question, but here goes:
Have more class trainers been added, specifically to the starting areas or the capital cities? Could we please get a Rogue and Warlock trainer in the Exodar, or a Shaman trainer in Silvermoon?
