That was my first thought as well. You'd also have a really tough time finding fist weapon skill in your old list of weapon skills as it was based on unarmed.

My shaman has always been able to equip fist weapons...

Only if you paid for the training. I'm guessing the person asking the question never trained them before, but now has the skill for free since the patch.

The dude probably never trained it. Even though its used the unarmed skill, I think you still had to go learn fist weapons from someone. With the patch, any unlearned weapons skills were automatically taught. For five years, I refused to equip or even learn maces as a Rogue because they never fit the archetype in my mind. Well, I know how to use them now. :(

Nevermind that there were all of maybe 4 fist weapons before hitting Outlands, and they were terribly itemized.

Now now, Armill. That's not entirely true. There was always Thekal's Grasp (http://www.wowhead.com/item=19896) and Arklokk's Grasp (http://www.wowhead.com/item=19910) from ZG. And as a set, they're pretty damn awesome. Chance on melee or ranged hit to turn into the tiger boss' tiger form from ZG? Hell yeah. Also, from what I've heard, that proc was pretty insanely powerful back at lvl 60.

Although I don't think Shamans had dual-wield back then, did they? Well, it worked out well for rogues at least...

The Shaman dual-wielding-thing is, I believe, a patch 2.0.x-talent for shamans, at least it used to be. I, for one, remember the time of being FROST-SHOCK!!-WINDFURY-2H-Procced to death in 1.x battlegrounds...

It was the hunters and rogues who went mad for that weapon set.

both those pre-BC fist weapons are terrible for shaman. shamans want slow weapons 2.6 and up speed, NOT 2.20 and 1.50 speeds.
