BlizzCon 2010: Moonkin Hatchling mini-pet going on sale in November

They also announced that their Pandaren Monk pet when it donated all proceeds to charity when it was first available made $1.1 million for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. We're curious if this is a sign of more charity vanity pets to come in the future as that will make a serious impact for almost any cause.

I hope they continue doing the charity thing. Not only does it help people in need, but it makes it easier to convince the wife to let me blow $10 on some silly pixels. Win/win!

Separate bank accounts FTW. ;)

If they keep doing the charity thing I'll gladly pony up some money.

I do believe that the moonkin is a charity pet. If i remember correctly, when Mike announced it, he said 'a new charity pet coming to the virtual pet store', or something along those lines.

I hope there's a charity element to it... I can get my wife to agree to these purchases FAR easier when I can say "But half goes to dying kids!"
Josin Oct 22nd 2010 3:03PM
Damn you Cutaia, you beat me to the same comment! ;D

They should call us the 3 Banditos of commenters who are commenting about Blizzcon stuff! Long title but it rocks.
I just wish Lil' K.T. had been for a charity as well. I didn't need a reason to buy the mini-version of my favorite WoW-character of all time but it would've made it so much cooler.

"Damn you Cutaia, you beat me to the same comment! ;D"
Oh, uh...um...
FIRST?

I just buy my wife one as well and she doesn't complain about it. ;)

I wish my wife played WoW, so I could do stuff like that.
WaterRouge Oct 22nd 2010 3:04PM
It better dance on command!
Crowqueen Oct 22nd 2010 3:04PM
This is one pet I will be buying :). Very happy.

>it donated all proceeds
Nope. It was 50%. That means $1.1mil plus all the income from Monks sold this year was poured into the gaping maw of the Kotick.
Josin Oct 22nd 2010 3:10PM
The Kotick-hater thing is getting tiresome.
Vladeon Oct 22nd 2010 3:25PM
What do you expect from a Cardassian?
Chronos88 Oct 22nd 2010 3:32PM
I don't see why people keep forgetting that Blizzard is a company and that they exist to make profit... They didn't have to donate a single penny of that to charity but they did, $1.1 million worth of them.
Also I agree that the Kotick thing is getting just annoying now. It wasn't witty when the merger first happened and it still isn't funny now.
Diop Oct 22nd 2010 4:01PM
The Kotick thing was never meant to be a joke. Yes it's true that Blizz is a business and all that but not all business models are the same.
I think Kotick has had a negative effect on the gaming industry and that it is possible to care for your customers and still make money hand over fist. The gaming industry over the last few years has been about making content more expensive and Kotick openly admits that.
I don't think he's the devil, or that he wouldn't spend a dollar to save his mother's life, but I do think he doesn't care about gamers and gaming at all and that many of his business practices suck.
Josin Oct 22nd 2010 4:16PM
Be that as it may, the witch-hunt that goes on about him has turned it into a joke. Nothing trivializes a serious matter like a multitude of people chanting it like its the freshest Chuck Norris joke they just hopped onto the bandwagon for.
Al Oct 22nd 2010 4:33PM
Know what else trivializes it? Brushing everyone off as band-wagoneers.
Jeremy Star Oct 22nd 2010 3:07PM
The Moonkin Hatchling IS a charity pet. Morhaime said that when he announced it.
