BlizzCon 2010: Moonkin Hatchling mini-pet going on sale in November

They also announced that their Pandaren Monk pet when it donated all proceeds to charity when it was first available made $1.1 million for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. We're curious if this is a sign of more charity vanity pets to come in the future as that will make a serious impact for almost any cause.

Did they say for whom? I know Blizz has always been tight with Make-A-Wish, but I'm reminded of the pink moonkin and breast cancer awareness month and stuff, it'd be nice.

So why don't all us charitable people donate directly to charity, without having to get some minipet out of it? Charity only goes so far without getting something "real" out of it?
I wanted a Moonkin Hatchling pet, but I didn't think I'd have to pay real money for it. I was kinda hoping it'd be a new reward from the Cenarion Circle in Cataclysm or something.

Who says we don't? But it's an extra incentive, when we're likely to buy it anyway, to know that we're helping out a charity we believe in.
Also, we've had 2 Cenarion reps already... do we need more focus on them? I already figure we'll get more of them shoved somewhere unpleasant via Hyjal...
(I SO don't care about druid lore.)
RogueJedi86 Oct 22nd 2010 3:15PM
I meant more along the lines of adding new rewards to the pre-existing Cenarion Circle rep since it's kinda lacking in neat items compared to the BC and LK reps. Moonkin=Druids/Elune=Cenarions.

Yeah. I was hopeful when I found out you could get tabards from the main capital cities in Cata... but that they were the same ones they offer at the Argent Tournament.
I really would love a Stormwind Tabard that looks like the ones the guards wear.
WaterRouge Oct 22nd 2010 3:31PM
I'm pretty sure the guard's tabards are just the standard PvP one. It's called Scout's Tabard for Horde, can't remember what the Alliance one is.
So do the quests in Hyjal give Cenarion Expedition rep or just Circle? If its the Expedition that will make me very happy. Don't want to keep farming Heroic SP/UB
Josin Oct 22nd 2010 3:37PM
The guard tabards are SIMILAR to the Knight's and Private's tabards from PvP, but are a separate texture that is seemingly unique to the NPCs in Stormwind.
I've been using the PvP ones for my Stormwind Guard costume for years now, and it works well enough, but I'd certainly prefer the authentic one.

I always just walk around with my wolpertinger following me, when in lazer chicken form. He's been the closest so far. ^..^

Although I might have misheard, I thought I caught that the moonkin would be 100% donation profit, versus 50%.
As a complete aside, I am currently streaming the low quality feed for both the main stage and the development stage. I think DirecTV screwed it up today, as the RTS feed is actually airing the (supposedly off limits) development feed. If you didn't buy the full stream ticket, jump in before they fix it.

Nix all that, I missed the Segway. Something about server hardware being auctioned for 100% charity profit. No specifics on the value of the Hatchling.
Saeadame Oct 22nd 2010 3:14PM
Can't wait! TBH, I'll probably buy it whether or not it's for charity, because I'm just a pet-a-holic like that, but I guess I'll feel even better if it is for charity =).
It's also nice to know my Pandaren Monk purchase went to a charity too - I had no idea until just now haha.
feniks9174 Oct 22nd 2010 3:16PM
Yes, I will buy one. No, I don't care what you think.
Haters can hate, it will give my 3 year old daughter something else to point at and make a big deal about when she's sitting on my lap watching me play.
Tirrimas Oct 22nd 2010 3:21PM
Upvoted for sheer kyootness.
SaintStryfe Oct 22nd 2010 4:00PM
hehe, I do the same with my niece. She calls the Celestial Steed "Sparklepony"
brian Oct 22nd 2010 4:13PM
As do we all, Saintstryfe, as do we all... ;)
Andrew Oct 22nd 2010 3:17PM
I hope it coincides with a new moonkin form! What better way to commemorate the old one then with a pet?
Eraina Oct 22nd 2010 3:18PM
If it's under $10 and it's adorable, I might end up buying it. I've always thought Blizzard would make more money if they would sell Lil' Deathwing as a little pet in the story. I'm honestly not paying $40 for a vanity pet, because that's the only useful thing I would get out of the Collector's Edition.
Lil' Deathwing is absolutely adorable pet, and I admit, I Squee'd when I saw the figurine in the BlizzCon10 Goodie Bag pics. He's so cute when he's tiny and not destroying the world!
arixian Oct 22nd 2010 3:42PM
I had the same thought. I know there are people that love the soundtrack that comes with the collectors addition but they usually make that available via iTunes at some point. I also believe the artwork is available either in a stand alone book or for viewing online. So the people interesting in those can still get what they want without paying the extra $40 for the collectors edition just for the one thing but those of us that just want the pet are out of luck.
Hrothgar Oct 22nd 2010 3:19PM
Gonna get one. Been wanting to own a tamed druid forever and this is the next best thing.
Eraina Oct 22nd 2010 3:21PM
Why not just farm up the Champion Seals' for a Teldrassil Sproutling... it's pretty much a tamed druid. It does everything resto druids do. Sleep during boss fights and dance at random intervels. (Coming from a 6k gs Resto Druid so don't think I'm hatin' :P)
