Breakfast Topic: BlizzCon Day 1 anticipation

One easy way to go about BlizzCon would be to just follow one game, such as World of Warcraft, and attend all the relevant panels. If you're like most folks who play Blizzard games, however, you're probably a big fan of everything they churn out (you're looking at BlizzCon, after all), which means picking the best panel to attend can be a bit of a dilemma. Happy problems aside, if you didn't have to choose which stage to sit in front of -- like those of us who picked up the DirectTV stream -- what part of today seems the most exciting? Personally, I think I'd have to go for WoW quests & lore. Now that we're already at Cataclysm, I can't wait to see what they've got in store for us, story-wise. Is there anything you're really looking forward to today? Or are the cooler events (e.g., the class panel) happening tomorrow? What do you think Blizzard's got up its sleeve?
BlizzCon 2010 is upon us! WoW Insider has all the latest news and information. We're bringing you liveblogging of the WoW panels, interviews with WoW celebrities and attendees and of course, lots of pictures of people in costumes. Haven't looked much at the schedule, but I hope they tell us what the next Diablo III class is.

Doesn't matter much due to the fact that you can't log into the rayv site. I'm more than miffed about spending $40 on something they aren't providing.

Aw shucks. No big announcement this year? Someday I will actually be aware of what Blizzard's new game is,... and I will smile.

IMO Next year will be the year that Blizzard annouces its new MMO. Then we will have a 2 year build up before release. So aiming for a 2013 release. It makes sense because blizzards new expansion will probably come out in 2012.

I'm looking forward to the reports from the class panel, where I suspect Ghostcrawler will be beset by angry Warriors.
Pyromelter Oct 22nd 2010 8:24AM
Warriors got buffed last week and along with feral druids are now overpowered in terms of dps.
I still think the biggest QQ will come from paladins, especially the rets. The biggest complaint I hear is "If I wanted to be a rogue, I would have rolled a rogue," and I think there is some legitimacy to that. Except that the current incarnation of holy power is a helluva lot more sloppy and rng than rogues and feral druids. And oh yeah their mastery is in complete contradiction with their 31-point talent.
There's a lot more for rets to legitimately QQ about. Warriors were just undertuned at 80; having played mine and talked to our guild warriors, we all feel that the playstyle is more fun than before, and there are no complaints of damage since the damage pass they did last week on the live servers. Rets aren't undertuned, they are just kind of in a messy, sloppy place. I expect the loudest voices to come from that department.

Okay, lemme rephrase: Warrior TANKS.

@Pyromelter
You can add to that that the paladin class is one of the most played classes in WoW currently. Numbers always make the amount of QQ increase.
As for mastery and 31-point talent not working together, that's the case for more specs than just Ret.

OMG I am so excite for the World of Warcraft dungeons & raids panel and I can't wait to see some new cinematics and maybe a release date (prays) for Diablo III.

To be honest, there's nothing I'm really looking forward to hearing about from this year's Blizzcon. Last year, it was all about the Cataclysm news, and before that, naturally, it was about WotLK. They're clearly not going to announce the 4th expansion when Cata isn't even out yet, and since they'd made it clear that they weren't going to announce the mysterious new MMO yet either... yeah. I'll pass on any interesting Diablo 3 news to a friend of mine who loves the series, but that's about it.
Of course, Blizzard could still drop some news on us that gets us all excited about something new. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. And that would be awesome. ^_^

Cross realm heirlooms would be something nice they could announce for me. I've got almost all of them and would love to roll some alternate faction toons on a different server. Is there a panel for features like that?
Pyromelter Oct 22nd 2010 8:18AM
The Starcraft2 story looks amazing, that's probably where i'd be if I was there.
Live raid would be cool if it was a top guild doing a Lich King 25 Heroic attempt. That is still the most epic fight in the game in my opinion (although it could be argued that yogg +0 was actually more difficult at that tier). I wouldn't want a repeat of and indestructible hogger oneshotting all of premonition (as funny as that was last year).
I know blizzard said they wouldn't have any new game announcements, but I think you just have to believe that there will be something more than just the 5th class of D3 will be announced. That's probably what I'm most looking forward to reading about; some "surprise" announcement that no one saw coming.

I remember trying to choose in '08 it can be a little crazy.
Then at the end of the day, just pass out in your room, lol
Pyromelter Oct 22nd 2010 8:26AM
Nah man, you gotta rally! The powers that be invented energy drinks for a reason ya know :)
Warren Oct 22nd 2010 8:39AM
No Bingo Card?
Gormaggus Oct 22nd 2010 8:42AM
Can't wait for some Tastosis/Day9 casting action at the SC2 tournies :D

For those of us that are getting the web feed, after the first day is done, will they replay it during the night so we can catch up on the other channels?
Tinwhisker Oct 22nd 2010 9:55AM
If memory serves, you have about a week to watch whatever you want. I think the web feed will have everything available for replay but it's possible they won't have minor "filler" type stuff available.
Axolotl Oct 22nd 2010 8:49AM
How about complaining about Goblin Rogues like they promissed we would?
We'll complain allright: "Why can't we play 'em yet?"
Arsinic Oct 22nd 2010 9:21AM
I'm hoping the big announcement will be a trailer for the warcraft movie that's had no attention in 2 years
