A little situational awareness goes a long way. If DPS would spend less time watching recount and more time paying attention to what's going on around them, we wouldn't have this problem at all.
I love you DPSers, I really do, but watching recount is bad news!

I'm not watching Recount. I'm watching the top corners for my focus, mana, and holy power, the center to make sure I'm beside/behind the mob/not in the cleave, my pet across the room, the sides for all the new glowy pinging procs, the floor, my bars lighting up like crazy, the cast timers, and next expansion they'll probably add some goddamn Floormasters to the ceilings.

@Violet - It's definitely a pain for your eyes to be flying all over the screen to track things. Have you tried any add ons so that you can move your character frame somewhere more useful? You don't have to go nuts with a custom UI, but I found that moving my holy power bar to be centered and right below my feet really helps with tracking. Even if you don't want to use a unit frame add on, you can just get MoveAnything which will let you drag the important info to a better place.

It's not about watching Recount vs. not, or even about situational awareness, so you can hold that bit of snark. As I said downthread, this is about poor design running up against what can be years of conditioning. On LDW as the most egregious example, Efflorescence looks *just like* her D&D, but for the swirly flowers that can be very easy to miss in a hectic raid environment. I can count on one hand the number of encounters over the years where DPS had to stand in something good. That, opposed to the dozens of fights where "DON'T STAND IN THE FIRE" is the rule. If you spent 5 or 6 years being trained to not put your hand on a hot stove, and then all of a sudden some piece of really good medical technology came out that happened to look just like a hot stove, what would you do?
We're talking basic human instinct, here. It will take time and patience for people to adjust, not obnoxious comments about watching Recount. Take two minutes before you raid to show your raiders what your new spells look like, and macro an announcement for when you use them (I believe Healbot even has the latter as a built in function you can set). That solves half the issue right there, the other half is just people getting used to it.

I'm still waiting on all my normal addons to start working again before I get into the UFs. This world without Altoholic and duel blocking is killing me (I did get the latest one. I get errors every time I mouse over anything. Ideka.) And so far I've only seen one ret holy power mod and it... it was overly simplistic.
