I don't know what's going on with projected textures after the patch. Sometimes I see them and sometimes I don't. A lot of the AOE spells look totally different and many are very hard to see. I don't see void zones at all! I think a lot of the 'running out of heal AOE' stems from this problem. It's safer to run away if you see something you don't recognize.

Yes, this. I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. I've been having this issue on all my toons since the patch.

Yeah, my guild was doing Ulduar last week, trying to get a few hard mode achievements for people who want them and still haven't got around to finishing them (like me). We came within 10 or 15 seconds of getting Hodir in time for the bonus chest, and we probably would have got him... except for the fact that no one could see the spots where it was safe to stand. We did pretty good and/or got lucky, considering that handicap.
My HW:Sanc seems to not show the graphic at all on the first cast, but it will on subsequent casts. Not a huge issue, since the spell still heals.. ..bigger issue when it's a void zone not showing up the first time.

My raid leader and I were having the same problem in ICC this week, Deathwhispers D'n'D wasn't showing up like it normally does. Instead I was getting little transparent whisps of smoke, barely visible with everything else going on. If DBM hadn't been there to yell at me, I'd have never known I was standing in it. As others have said, though, our instinct has become "if you don't know what it is, get away from it". People will figure it out, but it's just going to take time and exposure so they can learn to recognize the spell effect. What's helped for me is watching the Druids playing around with Efflorescence in Dalaran, that way I can sit there on my mount and think "Oh, THAT'S what it looks like!"

I think this bug is being caused by a new option in the interface called Emphasize my spell effects. It's turned on by default, and sometimes causes you to not be able to see the aoe graphics from something else.

I keep my settings fairly high and I've noticed that PoS is completely borked. Sometimes you see where ice is going to fall in the tunnels and sometimes you don't. It's like playing pinball when you don't. Same thing with the guys that are dragging around body parts before you get to Ick. I used to see green puddles, now i just see little bubbles on occasion the green puddles decide to come out of hiding.
