Posts on official forums are now saying that since the servers are back up and 4.0.1a was applied mages are unable to use the name command to change the pet name. Those who named their pets still have named pets. No word from Blizzard at all on why the hunter command worked in the first place or if all the personalized elementals will have names reset to default at some point.
