The new Cataclysm login screen has been unveiled this weekend during BlizzCon 2010. Our hopes and prayers for a login screen without a screaming, ear-shattering dragon were all for naught. Deathwing is certainly much cooler than Sindragosa, so I'm sure we can live with it ... for a few weeks. After that, my mute button and I will be becoming close friends again.

From what they showed at the art panel, that model is basically half of Deathwing. Only what you can see from the front was created for the screen.

By "their" I assume you mean all the people that bitch about noises that hurt their poor little ears: learn to use a volume knob, people: it's not like the Sindragosa roars the moment you get to the login screen: he flies around first.

Someone never made it to Sindy in ICC. I had no problems with the login screen until after I had heard, "You were FOOOLSS to have come to this place, the icy winds of Northrend will consume your souls!!" a million times. Sindragosa is a bitch, and I hate her.

Ah yes... another screeching dragon... Nothing more annoying than forgetting to log out, and have Sindragosa screech and scare the dogs when you get disconnected from the server....

Yeah, at least the launcher went on mute in the volume mixer right away. Sad there's no option (as far as I know) for the login screen.

I never muted Wrath's login: that dragon roar is awesome, and the Cata screen looks even better. I really prefer a red scheme to blue and Deathwing is so much more bad-ass than Sindragosa.

meh.. He's a dragon, and the expansion's centerpiece. Honestly, I would halfway expect him to roar and look menacing. It's a lot more apt to draw one into the game than a static shot of him standing there, dragon-scowling...
I mean, it would have been awesome if they had recreated the hookah-smoking scene from the canceled Warcraft Adventures... But I doubt that Blizz would have gone that route...
