The new Cataclysm login screen has been unveiled this weekend during BlizzCon 2010. Our hopes and prayers for a login screen without a screaming, ear-shattering dragon were all for naught. Deathwing is certainly much cooler than Sindragosa, so I'm sure we can live with it ... for a few weeks. After that, my mute button and I will be becoming close friends again.

The concept behind the login screen (sounds included) is amazing.
BUT I hate watching an amazingly well-made dragon in CG and then see his cartoon version in the login screen.

I swear Dane Cook is their new login screen designer. "No, seriously guys, everything is BETTER when it's loud!"
(Note that this would have been said in all caps, but there's nothing bigger to emphasize "better")

I was kind of hoping it would show a view of SW park, and then a huge surge of lava hits the area and we are left with molten remains for a log in screen. It's sort of odd they placed the final boss right on the log in screen, but I could see how it works as a sort of "come and get me, I dare you!". I thought the whole "you are not prepared" theme was over with but Blizz seems to love it.
I just hope Deathwing doesn't show up in every other dungeon to say ", you failed me!" [turns to adventurers] "Your doom shall arrive soon enough, whelps."

No one said Deathwing was the final boss. In one of the panels, it was hinted that someone is pulling his strings. Considering the source of the voices...

Yes, you are right, this expansion is also about more echos of the old ones, but Deathy is on the box, people always want more dragons, and people will be waiting for that fight like no other.

What the hell? We all hated sindragosa and her annoying scream. Now we get the exact same thing? This is awful awful AWFUL.

And actually, in this case, he did speak for me. The common consensus is that most people don't like the dragon roar.

I liked the original Dark Portal login screen. Why can't we have that back. Deathwing is ugly, Stormwind is burny, and I want something pretty.

if you look at the pics on mmo champ of the art panel they did, they showed different login screens, and one was an awesome looking portal, you can see it in its completed stage, and it is so much nicer then the deathwing one

I like it.. but I prefer it after I enter my info and hit Login :)
..it's only a loading screen guys, the content after it is more important.
I'm just glad they have something up in time for Cata

Not a big fan of the in-game model, actually. I guess he has no peripheral vision with the fangs nearly poking him in the eyes? I REALLY like how he looks in the cinematic and the official wallpaper. The Underbite of Doom just looks better.
