The BlizzCon costume contest took place yesterday afternoon with roughly 90 entries (give or take a few, depending on how you count group efforts). We did have a screenshot of one entrant in black that was unfortunately too dark to include, but this is an otherwise comprehensive gallery of all contest entrants, the five finalists and winner. There were a number of extraordinary costumes this year, and we highly recommend giving them a look. However, I think Jay Mohr was correct in observing that it's only a matter of time before someone's going to topple over on digitigrade stilts. Please, folks -- it's okay to suffer for your art, but it's not okay to break your ankles over it!
The five finalists (you'll find them toward the end of the gallery) portrayed Ysera, the
female monk from Diablo III, Jaina Proudmoore, the female witch doctor from
Diablo III, and Illidan Stormrage. The eventual winner was Christina Estrada as the female monk.

Wulfhound Oct 23rd 2010 1:49PM
Female Monk from Diablo 3, says it right there in the article.
Jhestor Oct 23rd 2010 1:50PM
The answer to your question is in the article.
Miakasu Oct 23rd 2010 1:51PM
Female Monk from D3.
Ice Oct 23rd 2010 1:54PM
"The eventual winner was Christina Estrada as the female monk." perhaps?

I went straight to the gallery without noticing the text. D'oh!

I am amazed that they JUST announced the Demon Hunter class in Diablo 3, and there was someone cosplaying as her.
Either it was a leak, or it was a Blizzard employee.
And about the Spy. No matter what convention you are at, there is always a Spy there.
Thius Oct 23rd 2010 3:05PM
It was an employee there to help people across the stage; as were the night elf and blood elf on both ends of the stairs.

The female judge alongside Jay Mohr looks like Temporance Brennan from Bones. I can't remember her first name, but she's Zooey Deschenal's sister.

The idea of you winning was... Merely a setback.

Watch out when shaking Illidans hand, put an eye out with that rack.....

Love the mage toting along a sheep. Adorable.
Several Spirit Healer costumes, very nice.
Is that a Naga drag queen? And why does (s)he have dice and cards? God I am confused.
A lot of amazing propwork.
Tauren mailbox!
It looks like the winning Illidan's wings opened up, am I right? If so, extradoubleplus cool.
Xid Oct 23rd 2010 2:33PM
I believe the Naga described herself as "Lady Vashj goes to Vegas" or something like that. Illidan was a handful. He had a buddy to help him to center stage in his crazy ankles/hooves and then pull strings on his back so his wings would open up. Great effect though. I wonder if his Twin Blades were self-made or if we can actually buy them somewhere.
Thius Oct 23rd 2010 3:09PM
To clarify; it was supposed to be Lady Vashj in Las Vegas, at least that's what the announcer said, and yes, Illidan's wings did open up, the guy had an awful time getting across the stage his costume was so massive.
Wulfkin Oct 23rd 2010 7:41PM
I love the mailbox. Props to the Spirit Healer too, she looks awesome!
Shaktiri Oct 23rd 2010 2:07PM
I missed the awesome constructed ones, like the giant grobbulus from last year :( most of this was all just pretty armor sets. The hogger and some of the less -clothing types should've won, or gotten a separate category or something.
