BlizzCon 2010: New Cataclysm worgen cinematic

As hinted during the Starcraft 2 cinematic panel yesterday, a new Cataclysm cinematic just debuted at the Cinematics: Cataclysm panel. As any beta worgen player could tell you, the "transition cinematic" that really kicks the story into high gear has been missing, and now we know where and what it is. As a quick gloss on what you'll see without spoiling anything too heavy, you'll see your character's transition from human to worgen, with some quiet speculation on whether your humanity's salvageable or not.

We'll post it as soon as we can find/get a copy on YouTube, but suffice it to say -- it rocks. I'm amazed at the quality the cinematics team can get out of the in-game models these days.

EDIT: A copy just went up and I've posted it past the cut. The quality's not that great, but I'll post a better copy as soon as one appears.

I love how this deepens Godfrey's own storyline, it's brilliant.

Wow, best cut scene in Wow yet... guess they have to give the other races such a cut-scene, too.

At last half that level or the players will start a rebellion.

Amazing.

Also, it would be cool if they allowed us to manipulate the models like that for Machinima. For example, the way the gunmen were holding the guns, and man was talking. Unless there is a way currently and that I'm unaware of.

Oh Em Gee. AWESOME.

Watching Robin play through the Worgen storyline in Silverpine as a Forsaken (*spits*) I loved Godfrey. I love him even more now.

Yeah the Alliance finally got their Saurfang.

I have been horde for coming up 6 years... he is the first thing to make me go... the alliance is badass.

Well, unfortunately ... (SPOILER ALERT)

He gets killed and raised as a Forsaken. Undead, he's a pyromaniac loose cannon, he even kills the NPCs you're supposed to be rescuing ... he even kills SYLVANAS. Shoots her in the back. She dies. But then the accursed Val'kyr resurrect her and he hightails it off to Shadowfang Keep.

Still, we get the Greymanes, who are all sorts of cool. Liam Greymane can cleave *with his fists*.

I hear you, Dreyja. I'm annoyed at having to roll a Forsaken to see the Worgen storyline ... still going to do it, but I'm probably going to name him DeathToTheDead or something. Perhaps "AWorgenSpy"?

After seeing the Gilnean starting zone I am really psyched at playing a Worgen! Heck, I'm really psyched to start kicking some Forsaken butt in general :)

Though what pisses me off is that those same Forsaken bastards that tried to take over Gilneas and murdered our prince, now have the other part of our story?!

Damn you Sylvanas!

This cinematic shows just how much we need an updated cloak model.

I want a cloak like Godfrey's, not the flappy rectangle we're all stuck with at the moment.

Last time I checked, Godfrey was bald! And now that I think about it: Doesn't that guy have Genn's hair and beard? O.O

They called him Godfrey in the panel discussion, I'm pretty sure. Hm... I've not seen much of him in game yet because I don't want to spoil the whole thing for myself (just the important bits X)

If they changed his model a lot for the cinematic it may be a bit off-putting but understandable I guess.

I have no fear that Kingie Greymane is going to be awesomesauce with a side of regret. ;D

Gorgeous video.

We need a new cloak model. And vanity item slots. This is COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY NECESSARY TO THE GAME, BLIZZARD.

Seriously I want a hat + glasses and a cool flappy (perhaps tattered) cloak :(

Also, I want to get my toon a tunic like they have on certain NPCs.
