BlizzCon 2010: Realm meetups bring together far-flung friends

These Moonguard (US) players not only did just that -- they managed to take over a good one-third of the entire meet-and-greet area with their enthusiasm. While a handful of players did share a guild in common and were attending BlizzCon as a group, most of the Moonguard gang were at BlizzCon on their own (two of them all the way from Australia!) . While not many players were familiar with one another's characters in game, that didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm -- and I have to say they were great sports with a little gentle teasing about their realm's somewhat exotic reputation.
The realm meetups continue Saturday on the con floor. Stop by and discover what new faces might be friends you already know.

Moonguard you say...? I hope no ERPers met up here by accident.
"Oh... it was you who was the Draenei in the Noblegarden ears.. err... well now I've lost all interest, Steve"

Beat me to it. Moon Guard jokes :)
Thorie Oct 23rd 2010 11:17AM
Moon Guard - US, you say?
90% of these people are female Blood Elves
xenothaulus Oct 23rd 2010 11:19AM
Moon Guard is Scary. I don't want to think about what happened during that meetup.
Xid Oct 23rd 2010 11:22AM
I can't help but imagine the awkwardness of a face-to face meeting with players from your realm that you certainly don't get along with in-game and perhaps have even put on your ignore list and/or likewise.
Micheal Oct 23rd 2010 2:36PM
Well, Moon Guard wouldn't have that problem, you know how they're a roleplaying realm? What happens in RP stays in RP.

Being on MG since i started playing WoW 3ish years back, i can say it is NOT as bad as people say. Sure trade chat and Goldshire are far worse than normal servers, but really it is not all like that. Outside of those places there are actually some tight knit RP and raiding communities. Those horrible places just give us a bad name.
Thorie Oct 23rd 2010 11:32AM
If you look at Warcraftrealms.com and see that there are more blood elf players than orcs, undeads, taurens and trolls combined. It's a bad realm.

"more blood elf players than orcs, undeads, taurens and trolls combined. It's a bad realm."
That must be the stupidest reason to call realm bad. ever.
"theres blood elves". Blood elf hate is so 2007, get over it already old chap.
Terrant Oct 23rd 2010 12:15PM
Blood elves are 40% or more of Horde characters on most, if not all, servers opened after the Burning Crusade, so for them to be at 50% on Moon Guard isn't so bad.
Thorie Oct 23rd 2010 12:24PM
So what makes a realm bad then young whippersnapper?
leo909864 Oct 23rd 2010 12:35PM
The blood elves don't make a server bad. It is the people that play them and I have found that blood elves on MG are not the problem, the problem is attention seekers and little kids breaking the rules and mood of an RP server by spamming, and it is also the ERPers which happen to be clustered in a SMALL area called Goldshire. One bad area does not make a whole server bad. I am sure your server has a group of players that cause trouble as well. Some of the best players i have met, both in skill and respect, I have found on MG. I have tried other servers but within a week I missed Moon Guard. Please get your facts straight before attacking a server based on an isolated problem that Blizzard is taking care of.

Moon Guard isn't THAT bad. Just avoid Goldshire like the plague.
Because any native Moon Guardian knows that if you go anywhere near that place, the plague is the least of your worries. o.o

Even then, most of the the troubles in Goldshire aren't a result of Moon Guard's actual player base, but griefers and bored players who seek to perpetuate town's reputation. I've been on the realm since it was a low population realm, and the rumors about Goldshire have done nothing but make the problem worse.

Person sitting above the guy in the flannel shirt in the mid-left of the picture, To the right of the asian gentleman.
Say hello to that sexy Night elf mailbox dancer.
Dithy Oct 25th 2010 3:07AM
Well, if you watched the dance competition, you'd know that guys are the only ones brave enough to actually do the night elf dance in public!
Also, that is obviously a gnome hairdo, not a night elf 'do. Know Your RP Lore!

I have never seen anything about my server, Shattered Hand. I guess it's because we're unimportant :(
Fawnfouler Oct 23rd 2010 11:49AM
As part of Moon Guard, the timing of this article is eerie. A primarily Californian guild, Nocturne, just had its first face-to-face guild soiree last evening. Many of us had previously met, but our Utah-based GM is visiting from his terrible state, and it was a first for most of us to meet him.
RIzuli1 Oct 23rd 2010 12:09PM
Woah, I see my guildie in that picture.
Varda Oct 23rd 2010 12:23PM
My female Blood Elf is offended by all this Sin'dorei hate.
Selama ashal'anore!
Most people RP a Blood Elf wrong..that's pretty much the problem IMO.
Not sure about what's going on in Moonguard. When I went to transfer to an RP server it was closed to transfers so I eventually found my present day server. Fortunately it doesn't seem to be inundated with ERPers.
It all depends on where you go. I tend to stay out of Goldshire. Even on a regular server it's a juvenile place to be.
