I'm slogging through The Shattering right now. It's the first Warcraft novel I've read, and I must say that if Ms. Golden is the best writer of the lot, the others must have been truly wretched. This book has page upon page of mindless exposition: peripheral characters like Remulos get a one or two paragraph detailed description of their in-game models, for cripes sake.I guess if you can really, truly write, you don't end up doing contract work for a major game publisher, at least after your first novel gets you noticed.

If you think no one capable of writing works for a major game publisher, then why would you waste your time reading a Warcraft book?

Wait, a bare description of Remulos? You wanted a two page mega-biography full of how badass the character is?*sniff sniff*I smell a Knaak fan.
