Breakfast Topic: BlizzCon Day 2 -- just wait, there's more

First off, the Cataclysm: Cinematics panel is today. The cinematic for the expansion is awesome and I'm not sure we really need to talk about anything else. Wait, yes we do. There are other panels ... what were they again? Oh, the class Q&A and some other stuff. Let's take a closer look and see what all is going on.
For WoW panels we're just going to be sitting at the main stage for the first half of the day. We have the Cataclysm: Cinematics panel at 10:30 a.m., WoW Class Q&A at 12 p.m., and the WoW Open Q&A at 1:30 p.m. After that, we swap to the development stage for the WoW art panel at 3 p.m. If you keep watching the development stage you'll see -- or rather, hear -- a panel called Blizzard Sound that should touch on the making of the cool sound effects we're going to be hearing in Cataclysm as well as other Blizzard games.
The night will be finished off with a performance by Tenacious D at 6:30 p.m. As Mike Morhaime warned us during the opening ceremonies yesterday, this band isn't not suitable for some audiences ... and possibly all audiences, but they should be a fun act to watch.
Remember that all times and chai are Pacific. No, I wasn't mainlining caffeine when I wrote this last night. Well, maybe just a little.

going from booking Ozzy Osbourne last year to this this thing that they call band its was a big let down

Soo...You don't like Tenacious D because they're an indie band? Or do you just not like their sound? Either way I think they're a pretty good group to match the atmosphere of Blizzcon. The two of them have always been kinda quirky and I think they'll fit in well with the crowd.
Anywho, I'm looking foward to the cinematics!!!111one

So what's made of win, given the pic's too small to read?
Plan rogers Oct 23rd 2010 8:21AM
It's the cataclysm cinematic
Tolkfan Oct 23rd 2010 8:11AM
During the SC2 Cinematic Panel, they said that they'd release an unseen WoW Cinematic during the cata panel. It's an in-game cinematic, like wrathgate or fall of the lich king. My bet is on the worgen =)

I hope someone reporting tomorrow, updates on that kid from the Dance competition. Damn... "break a leg" is supposed to be a saying.
Cowy Oct 23rd 2010 6:23PM
er...today rather. Man i need to go to bed... O_o
Hivetyrant Oct 24th 2010 7:42AM
Was it bad that I laughed the first... and second time he fell?
I mean, if he really hurt his leg, why did they carry him with it? (If you watch, they did)
Gregg Reece Oct 23rd 2010 8:56AM
Looking at the feed it really looks more like he torqued his knee really bad. Also, he specifically pointed at his knee when talking to Jay Mohr. We're not really sure of anything at the moment though.

Wait.. WHAT? What did I miss??
Evelinda Oct 23rd 2010 9:20AM
i'd suggest that jay mohr's expert medical opinion may be disregarded, tbh... it WAS pretty bizarre they picked him up with that leg though; i was almost yelling at them on my computer screen to not carry him like that. seriously though, A for effort; rocking out so hard you hurt yourself is pretty rad.
Though it makes you wonder how the forsaken, who are already almost falling apart, can pull off that dance :P
Xid Oct 23rd 2010 11:34AM
Yeah seriously, I was concerned that they didn't seem to have anything of a medical team on hand in case someone broke a hoof and fell or slipped up on a dance move. Those guys who carried him off seemed like they'd never taken a first aid class in their lives, evidenced by the fact that they carried the guy off stage WITH THE LEG THAT WAS HURT. D= I've seen people get sued for stuff like that.

The problem with both the costume and dance contests was with the stage- it was like ice-covered marble. It (unlike last year) was so smooth and slippery that even those contestants wearing normal shoes had difficulties.
(Hence my little flop doing the female dwarf stepdance) ;)

bearing that in mind, i'm surprised more people didnt fall and hurt themselves... especially the people trying to walk on hooves.

I'm not really too excited about this years blizzcon. On wow side theres hardly any major revelations. Cinematics, 3D boss images on maps are cool and all but not that much to get jumping on the walls. I wonder how much they can do at class Q&A because theres 2 months for cataclysm and I dont think they will do major overhauls, revelations or anything there. Heck theres not even release date announcement for it. Oh well, it must be fun to those attending.. meeting other people, cosplay, fans, souvenirs, murlocks.. Not much for people "who watch at home". Kinda reminds me of this years E3 where there was hardly any big news that werent told public months before that.
But hey, go ahead.. suprise me blizzard.

There was actually a lot of good lore information in the quest and story panel yesterday. Also, the Diablo 3 gameplay panel showed a lot of cool concepts which may eventually work their way into WoW in some form or another (since a lot of the gameplay aspects of WoW were based off of concepts from Diablo 2).
Just because there isn't a major new announcement doesn't mean there aren't things to glean from the con.
Evelinda Oct 23rd 2010 9:25AM
as someone who's watching from home (the flight from australia was a bit pricey), i have to say i'm pretty entertained by it all. a lot of the panels you dont really need to watch, and i've just been listening to them while i play wow.... watching paragon take on a bunch of beefed up vanilla bosses, then a bunch of new bosses, was pretty rad as well. and sure, a lot of the information i could have just picked up here afterwards, but there's something to be said for having Metzen boom it at you in Thrall's voice instead :P
Alex Oct 23rd 2010 8:57PM
ISN'T not, just pointing that out
jasonfelliott Oct 23rd 2010 8:58AM
This is more a breakfast menu than a breakfast topic.
Unless the topic is how hard The D rocks!
Gregg Reece Oct 23rd 2010 9:01AM
The cinematic rocks. Get it right ;)
