Blizzard released
Lost Vikings almost two decades ago and has been making games ever since. Obviously proud of the company's history, BlizzCon has an arcade to play the older titles. The games, their years of release and their promotional posters are in the gallery below.
BlizzCon 2010 is upon us! WoW Insider has all the latest news and information. We're bringing you liveblogging of the WoW panels, interviews with WoW celebrities and attendees and of course, lots of pictures of people in costumes. It's all here at WoW Insider!

I wish they'd make a current gen Lost Vikings, that would be so amazing.
Mogura Oct 24th 2010 3:08PM
My question is, when can I order this for digital download from Blizzard?
Falcon6 Oct 24th 2010 3:10PM
You know, I would love to find out when Blizzard plans to release the Lost Vikings through the Battle.net store. I mean, the game can't be that big to download (most SNES games range in the MB range, if I recall from the Wii) and it would be awesome to be able to play that game that I've heard so much praise about.

The biggest SNES game ever was 6MB. The size is a little bigger for
the emulator.
Also, while there are several references to The Lost Vikings in the
game, I don't think there is one for Blackthorne.

the lost vikings is a classic! really amazing game.
Kami Oct 24th 2010 3:36PM
You can actually play lost vikings in Starcraft 2 as a minigame :) a nice touch.
The Hammer Oct 24th 2010 3:54PM
The Lost Viking is nothing like The Lost Vikings; the actual, real version is a 2D platformer with three on-screen characters.
Chukk Oct 24th 2010 3:55PM
Actually that's not the same game - unless there's something I missed which is entirely possible. The Lost Viking game on the arcade machine in SC2 in a scrolling shooter named as such as a reference, but has no other relation to The Lost Vikings which was a puzzle platform game.
Chokaa Oct 24th 2010 3:55PM
Well... It's sort of lost Vikings. The only thing similar is the name. Lost Vikigs was a 2d sides scroller similar to the old school duke nukems/cosmo/commander keen.
Hih Oct 24th 2010 3:52PM
That's "The Lost Viking" not "The Lost Vikings". Note the s on the second one. They used that name as an homage to their original game, not because it was the original game with different models.
The Hammer Oct 24th 2010 3:53PM
Yeah, I'm another guy who would gladly buy Lost Vikings and its sequel on the battle.net store! I'm sure it'd make Blizzard a considerable profit.

I'm really stunned with amazement, I used to play this back when I was four years old but I didn't know it was made by Blizzard, or had any idea who Blizzard was actually. However, being an avid Blizz games fan right now, I'm quite happy that even back then I enjoyed games made by them because they were good and well-designed (and also a bit ahead of their time). Funny how the world spins.

I'm assuming that most of use in the WoW crowd aren't fans of racing games, but I know that I am. And 'Rock n' Roll Racing' for the SNES was one of my all-time favorite games. Not all time favorite RACING game.. No no no.. All time FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME! The music, the action, the explosions! It was a truly great game and it's a real reminder of my youth.

I couldn't agree with you more.
my dad and I played that game so much when I was little, we started out renting it from a local gas station/movie rental combo and after the 10th consecutive time of renting it the store owner told us we could keep it this time around. I still play that game, I've been tempted to make a tribute as an SC2 map.
DarkFinch Oct 25th 2010 2:24AM
A tribute SC2 map in honor of RnR Racing is a very cool idea. I don't play SC, though.. So I can't really partake in such a thing.. But YEAH cool Idea bro.
Perhaps I'll make a WoW hunter and name him JakeBadlands.. Get me some RnR Racing named pets to go along with him.. A croc named Green? Perhaps a jormunger named SnakeSanders? How about two lion pets named Rip and Shred! God this could get interesting. Of course, nobody on Earthen Ring US will get the references when I run around in Orgrimmar. Hell, nobody even understands my current hunter and all of his 'Phish' references... oh well.

Left the best picture till last, Rock and Roll Racing FTW :D
Jamie Oct 25th 2010 4:13PM
How about putting an arcade in WoW? Maybe Booty Bay? Each play 25 copper, just like a real arcade.
Phasing could keep you from being interrupted on PvP realms.

I still have Lost Vikings for my GBA. Love that game. One of my favorites of all time.
