Breakfast Topic: What was your favorite moment at BlizzCon?

For me, it's a toss-up between the following, both of them from the general World of Warcraft question-and-answer session yesterday:
- Ghostcrawler's quip about the new alchemy two-person mount in Cataclysm: "Have you heard about the new alchemy mount? It'll be hard to get but fun to see who gets it first. It's awesome ... Who doesn't want to mount their friends?"
- A question came up on faction balance from an Alliance player on a Horde-dominated server, and the developers felt that more needed to be done to make the Alliance "cooler," that the "mythos and psychology" among players had developed to favor the Horde for PvP prospects. As the developers' answers ended, someone in the hall screamed, "Give us Saurfang!"

The Lore Q&A session was definitely my favourite. Almost all the answers by Metzen and Afrasiabi in that session were either hilarious or insightful.

GCs self intro of "i like long walks on the beach, drinking gin on nerfing paladins" was cool.

Can someone explain the Saurfang thing please? I don't get it.
razion Oct 24th 2010 8:42AM
The alliance wanted, well, to feel cool.
So they asked for Saurfang.

I have to say, I never really thought about it, but when I signed up for WoW I knew I'd never play Alliance. It started when I played the original Warcraft: Orcs and Humans RTS. I played a level or two as the Orcs. Their buildings were a little oddly bulbous, but their units had a great feel and personality. I saved that game, then started one as the Alliance. I couldn't get past the first board. The blocky, unimpressive units with cliche sayings and voicing and the standard fantasy-esque buildings did me in. The Alliance wasn't 'cool'. I haven't been a fan ever since.
That isn't to say that if the Alliance got a dose of cool I'd like it, but it could certainly use a shot of awesome.

I greatly enjoyed both the Lore Q&A as well as the WoW Art Panel.
I laughed when that kid yelled "Give us Saurfang" during that General WoW Q&A though. not because I thought his comment was funny. I laughed because of the dead silence right after he said it... as if everyone in the room was either staring at him with evil intent, or trying to ignore him.
I was saddened that we didn't get the Moose we were promised :(

"who doesn't want to mount their friends?" O.o
I wish Megan Fox was my friend...
razion Oct 24th 2010 8:42AM
You realize you'd be mounting a gigantic drake, right?
Vinicius Oct 24th 2010 8:44AM
@razion
Oh snap... well, I can dream :)
/sarcasm
razion Oct 24th 2010 9:14AM
Perhaps I need to be less subtle:
You would be MOUNTING a "gigantic drake".
A. Gigantic... Sandstone... Drake.

mmm, chocolate

Give us characters as cool, or cooler, than Saurfang. Give us faction leaders who *do* things rather than leave everything to Varian "King of the Alliance" Wrynn. Give the Night Elves their long-shoved-under-the-carpet crusade to save Ashenvale and wreak bloody vengeance upon the murderers of Cenarius, for the Light's sake!
And don't give us any more poop quests.
brian Oct 24th 2010 2:28PM
It's ok, the Goblins got the poop quests. We've got you covered...but not like that.
Malfurion's getting a pretty big role, so there's that! Even though he's not the leader it would be cool to have Nobundo helping with the Earthen Ring.

Probably my favourite session was the Sound and Music panel, some fun insights and a couple of juicy announcements like the upcoming sheet music publications. Shame it didn't kick off until quarter to 1 in the morning but hey.
The interviews between the main stage panels were fun, some amusing and insightful answers came out.
A few excrutiating moments as well though, especially the number of 'questions' from whining eejits who did nothing for the huntard stereotype. I feel sorry for the other 19,999 people in the audience who couldn't just quickly hit the mute button. Some repetition of faces too, shame the moderators couldn't issue a red card for each stupid statement which banned them from the mic from future panels :-P

I swear there were two guys who had asked a question at every single WoW-related Q&A session. That was annoying. Especially considering number of people in the lines who didn't get to ask anything.

Even though I didn't go to Blizzcon or watch the Directv stream, I followed many sites' coverage, and my favorite thing was the live raid with Paragon. Mr. D. Wing's cameo at the end was awesome, and I wonder what that achievement is for. Also, I think it would be cool if they tried to work the attack on Orgrimmar by those bosses into the actual lore. A deserving reward for Paragon.
biggjudicem Oct 24th 2010 11:15AM
The achievement they got was
"Stood in the fire"- be killed by deathwing
I think I saw that chieve datamined on MMO-champ
dotknott Mar 29th 2011 3:40PM
"We'll Keep Trying!"
Magma Oct 24th 2010 9:29AM
The best part was the alliance battle cry. "HAVE MERCY!"
