Mushanga won the BlizzCon 2010 machinima contest with this video titled The Rocket of Love. It's the story of a gnome man who wakes up, falls in love, professes that love, has it rebuked, and finds himself inadvertently taking decisive action. This all happens within the span of about two or three minutes, so you'll find the story pace moves along pretty quickly.
Mushanga's imagery for this video is spot-on and amazing in execution. The voice actors for this movie were equally perfect, with appearances by Rawrbug, Jesse Cox and FrozenDeathKnight. I thought that the other three were much much better than this one, story telling wise and in machinimating. This one was trying to hard to be funny and (I was with a bunch of other people watching the stream at the time) it just didn't make anyone laugh or feel any emotion other than meh. Oh well congratz to the winner.
I go through this, and find myself a bit underwhelmed with the voice acting. And with little to no music going on in the background, the sound just overall didn't do it for me. ;
Yeah, I thought it was awesome myself. You have to understand though that some people that comment here would write no matter who had won, "meh others where better, blah, blah, blah" because they enjoy bashing peoples work. /shrug nature of the beast I suppose. However, there are some really awesome commenter's here who give great criticism and I very much enjoy reading their thoughts on my videos, negative or positive. For example, Dreyja gives really good criticism. Others, unfortunately fall into the "this sucks!" white trash category.
Criticism that points out specific things that could be worked on are both awesome and helpful IMO.
I really enjoyed the Horde mafia video and the squirrel/rabbit one. I thought the forsaken one as decent as well. There was nothing at all about the rocket video that I liked. The fact that it won didn't make me like it less. It was the fact that it wasn't interesting or funny that did it in.
@Jenks my comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular but if you think I am dead wrong perhaps you don't understand what exactly I am saying. It happens. =]
For the most part, the comments I have been reading haven't been generic, "lol this sucks". They have actually been helpful comments that point out things that where not to his/her liking, which is a nice change and helpful to machinima makers. I mean granted some people have no care nor concern to some peoples actual feelings and just blurt out things but is expected being on the internet and all. On a side note, it is funny to see some people completely miss the point of some videos and make ridiculous comments.
I understood what you said perfectly. You implied that people who post they didn't like the video are trolls, but in a more passive agressive manner. It's not difficult to comprehend =]

I really liked the overall comedical feel this had, whereas entries like "forsaken" just sounded like a emo fest to me :/

Sorry Bloodvein but you're dead wrong.

This was a really well done and frankly, CUTE video.
I haven't seen all the other videos from blizzcon so I won't comment on whether it should have won or not but it was very enjoyable.
The special face animations... dang that must take a ton of time and effort. I always have to give an artist props when I see that sort of thing.
