The Queue: You betcha

Don'tcha know.
Junioon asked:
I heard a rumor that Blizz mentioned in the Art Panel about updated character models. Is this correct?
As others stated in the comment thread, it's something that Blizzard really wants to do, but it's not going to happen immediately (unless they're not telling us something, which I doubt). I expect it to eventually happen, but probably not this expansion. And of course now that I said that, watch new models appear in 4.1 ...
Callmeld commented:
I might be getting the digital download on release day, and I'm already dreading the queues and various delays as everyone starts grabbing it at once.
That's the thing that everyone needs to remember and keep in perspective. The digital download and physical copy will be available nearly immediately, but you'll be very lucky if you can play for any extended amount of time without the servers crashing or being mobbed by thousands of other players.
And I say this having been one of those thousands of players for every expansion so far (and will be again). Just keep it in perspective and don't get mad if you spend half the day on Dec. 8 waiting to play.
Ikarus asked:
I think I've read most the BlizzCon articles. Were there no ground breaking/major announcements? Maybe I just missed it?
Nope, there really were not any groundbreaking announcements this year for WoW.
Mortis asked:
Will there ever be a caption on the meetup photos so we know face to name?
That's a good idea, especially for next year with the staff. I'd be reluctant to do that for the readers who came, though. I'll stick this in my folder to think about for August 2011. (Yes, prediction made! BlizzCon 2011 will happen in August.)

Is it true that the Crudely-Wrapped Gift from the daily can contain the loot pumpkin you get from your first horseman kill?
Also, is it true that the Horseman's Reins are dropping from Treat Bags?
WGSXFrank Oct 26th 2010 4:17PM
Not so sure about your first question, but my girlfriend got the Horseman's Reins from a Treat bag a few days ago. I was sitting right next to her as it happened... and it made me soooooo mad.
Save Oct 26th 2010 4:22PM
I got the Horseman's Reins last night from the Treat Bag after the Horseman kill.
To bad too, I didn't open my bag until after leaving the group and couldn't lord it over them for a short time. >.
fadewon Oct 26th 2010 4:27PM
We're talking about the bag from Trick or Treating right? Not the Pumpkin shaped loot bag from the SM kill?
Etcee Oct 26th 2010 4:29PM
Okay, this is critically important - Treat Bags and Loot-Filled Pumpkins are different things. It sounds like the repliers are talking about Loot Filled Pumpkins, but that the original commenter is asking about the Treat Bags that you get from Trick or Treating in the Inns. DOES the HH Mount drop from trick or treating? Because if it does, I need to be on that HOURLY.
Starlin Oct 26th 2010 4:40PM
Let me clarify. Before you could only get the Horseman's Reins from the pumpkin awarded from your 1st Horseman kill per day. Now there are reports that that pumpkin is contained in the gift you get from the "Stop the Fires!" daily. And secondly, there are reports of the Horseman's Reins dropping from Treat Bags from Trick or Treating.
towtruck Oct 26th 2010 4:49PM
I think he isn't talking about Treat Bags or Loot-Filled Pumpkins. Crudely-Wrapped Gift is a different thing, you get it from the daily where you click the pumpkin in a low level town.
V Magius Oct 26th 2010 4:47PM
Wowhead shows it only comes off the Headless Horseman. I don't see any reason it would be added to the Trick or Treat bags. The achievement for it is a Feat of Strength. You never actually kill the Headless Horseman other than the run.
If they have moved it, I need to start Trick or Treating, and we could probably expect similar items to be on regular NPCs when applicable.
Starlin Oct 26th 2010 4:53PM
@towtruck I'm talking about all 3.
Kesh Oct 26th 2010 5:27PM
He's referring to the little gift box the orphan matron gives you after completing "Put Out The Fires" daily. And yes, it has a chance to drop one of the low-drop items from the Horseman. I got the helm on my level 20 druid that way last year.
Angus Oct 26th 2010 5:46PM
I have been getting the same reports.
My guess is that it was added at the same time as the loot pumpkins suddenly got a 100% chance to give you a mask.
Aris Oct 26th 2010 6:09PM
I've seen brooms and masks drop in the crudely wrapped gift. I've seen those and also the squashling and hallowed helm drop from the trick or treat bags. I've seen all of those and then the HH mount/helm/sword drop from the loot filled pumpkin after slaying the HH.
I haven't heard of anyone getting the HH mount (the horse) from a crudely wrapped gift. Having said that, if Kesh got the helm in it, I suppose it could be possible.
Drakkenfyre Oct 26th 2010 6:35PM
It wouldn't surprise me. With everyone having problems getting the mount via the dungeon since the pumpkin tends to lock most people up, they might have slipped in a fix quietly that gives it to drop from the daily.
Noyou Oct 26th 2010 6:51PM
That would be cool. You can get the squashling and pumpkin helm from either of the 3 so makes sense to make the mount a possibility too. I'm betting though- the person that got it had the loot filled pumpkin and didn't realize it until later, looted it after perhaps trick or treating and thought they got it from that.
Ez Oct 26th 2010 7:36PM
I got mine [finally!] from the [loot-filled pumpkin] when i killed the Horseman in SM.
Priestess Oct 26th 2010 8:06PM
I have never heard of the Horseman's Reins dropping from anything other than the Loot-filled Pumpkin. I looked around and did not find any comments on any other sites indicating otherwise. Is this just a rumor on your server?
However, I did find several comments about people asking GMs if the droprate went up, with the answer that it did, with the suggestion (not confirmed) that it's 5% to compensate for one chance a day. I personally have gotten three on one character in the first week, and I've lost count of how many Squashlings I've deleted. So, here's to hoping EVERYONE is as lucky with the new, apparently higher drop rates.
Skarlette Oct 27th 2010 2:00AM
I had never seen the mount drop, ever, despite farming the HH for at least eight or nine times a day (in previous years when you could summon him once a day per character, and my friends and I rotated in all our high level alts for maximum summons.)
This year, however, I've gotten the mount on three of my characters, and seen at least two other people in my groups get it.
Random loot is random, but it definitely seems to me that the drop rate is higher than in previous years.
I have not, however, heard of the mount dropping from anything other than the pumpkin you get for killing the Horseman in SM.
JFetch Oct 27th 2010 3:29AM
Last year I was standing next to a guy who yelled that he just got the reins from the crudely wrapped gift, but I can't confirm that he was telling the truth. He seemed genuinely surprised by it.
Kaliata'jin Oct 26th 2010 4:09PM
Everywhere I look, I find that there's a 2 year gap between Wrath (Metzen said it took a single year) and Cataclysm, (the infamous quest text). How's this year being filled in? And do us in game RPers need to skip ahead some?
Noah Oct 26th 2010 4:11PM
Is "Cataclysm" a 3-syllable word or a 4-syllable word?
