Cataclysm Beta: Female worgen dance video
The female worgen dance appears to have finally been finished and put into the latest beta build. She is going to be doing Lady Gaga's Poker Face. Wowhead has datamined the dance out of the latest patch files and has a few animated .gifs up on its site showing the dance moves. You can also see it in the video above.
For those of you keeping score at home, the female worgen model has been delayed, put in, pulled out and generally not finished for most of the beta. It appears Blizzard is starting to get things ready for Cataclysm's ship date. Now, if only it would fix the really strange way her jaws sit.

I'm so very proud to state I had no clue exactly what the female Worgen dances were based on. I avoid her and most new teenage-hyped music like the plague, so it comes as no surprise. However, it did add to my 'wtf' face upon seeing the worgen grab herself and the dances in general.
Poor taste. Eugh.

Same here.
First we have to endure plate swimsuits, now this...

I'm too easily entertained, the hands circling around the face made me giggle (don't judge me)

She looks like she's worried that her private parts are somehow going to go missing.
"My boobs still here? What about my crotch? Sweet, back to dancing!"

Disturbing... So cold...

I don't get why people are so shocked by the "boob and crotch grabbing/slapping". If you look at modern and hip-hop choreography in general you'll see a lot of "put your hands on your chest or near your crotch" moves. It's not just Gaga. Look at the night elf male dance - who else was better known for grabbing his crotch than Michael Jackson?
Okay, perhaps the mocap dancer (or whatever they used) grabbed her boobs a bit too... vigorously. Still not a big deal IMO.

"If you look at modern and hip-hop choreography in general,"
I prefer not to, honestly.

Her undies should be made of meat.

You guys have it all wrong! This isn't her /dance
It is totally her /train. That's how I choo choo and flag trains down.

OK, well I hear the argument that "the night elf guys grab their crotches too, and have done so since vanilla".
And I hear the counterargument, "but that's taken from a Michael Jackson video and he's totally like the King of Pop, his stuff is eternal" etc etc.
And I think, while Lady Gaga's only been pretty huge for a couple of years, when "In June 2010, Forbes listed Gaga fourth on its list of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential celebrities in the world; she is also ranked as the second most powerful musician in the world.[5][6] In October 2010, Forbes placed Gaga at number seven on their annual list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women" [quote from her Wikipedia page; see Wikipedia for sources], it tells me she's no one-hit wonder that we won't remember in a year. Will she ever be considered at the same level as Michael Jackson? Who knows? I kinda doubt it, but I'm not ruling it out.
So I decided to youtube (yep, it's a verb now, get over it) the actual video.
And the bit of Lady Gaga's dancing that they're mimicking is literally like ONE SECOND of the video.
If they were doing an accurate depiction in tribute to the original, that would be one thing. But now it appears to me that Blizzard set out to come up with something porny on purpose. It has little to do with Lady Gaga, and a lot to do with sexualizing the character class, getting us all talking about it for good or for ill, and building "buzz".

Bunch of whiners.
I love GaGa, I love this dance, and I love it on female worgen. It's fun, high energy, deliciously over the top, and she looks a little bit wild and a little bit foolish while doing it. Stefani Germanotta would be proud.
For the record, I love the male worgen dance too, I'll be super sad if Blizz caves to pressure and changes it. And I was gunning for Single Ladies for the goblin girls since moment one.
Clearly I'm just too pop culture saturated, even though my iTunes is mostly classical and world music.
Just saying -- SOME people like GaGa, SOME people like this dance, and SOME of those people are actually intelligent and well spoken human beings. The is no universal good or bad, and the people going "ahem let me quote a 40 year old or super obscure band to show how not mainstream I am," are no better than the Little Monsters.
I also enjoy how Michael Jackon's moves are considered tasteful solely because they're 30 years old, and the choice for that dance on an ageless, wise, druidic race isn't pulled into question. Double standards are fun.

so so so so so disappointed . I was hopeful for Shakira ( She wolf) , made perfect sence , now im going to have to deal with the one "artist" i literally detest.
*sigh
TheTraveler12 Oct 28th 2010 8:20PM
well.. looks like this will be the only character i will never /dance while im playing
TheTraveler12 Oct 28th 2010 8:24PM
and i say that not because its lady gag.. i could care less.. its because the dance looks horrible.. as does the face.. i know they are supposed to be werewolves.. but really.. i could hardly tell the diff between the male and female faces.. at a quick glance....

I love That SONG!!!
Cadsyl Oct 31st 2010 12:58PM
I'll say 3 things:
1) I'm not a Gaga fan. Her music is okay, but my dog is better behaved.
2) I knew Gaga would be a dance. Which video and character was the question.
3) I'm still going to play a Worgen, and it might be female. This is a game and I control it. If I don't want her to dance, I just have to avoid /dance emotes. Now stop your QQs.

No one noticed the male goblin dance is Soulja Boy? He winds it, cranks it SUPERMAN... (wow, I just lost my race card, cos I totally messed that up)

Maybe they will pull it and put in caramelldansen. I heard there was a petition going for that dance. Caramelldansen would be easy to put in and very fitting and cute! Vote this post up if you agree petition number two! Lol
