Interesting. Watched it again with the sound on and noticed 1) she /roar(s) and it sounds like an elephant. 2) very masculine/orcish sounding voice. I think they have the tough assignment between making the Worgen human/canine. On one hand the body style is very feminine/sexy much like a Draenei but the face/voice is something totally different. With about 6 weeks to go here's hoping they can strike a few harmonious chords. I have faith they will pull it off.

The animation itself might be high quality, but the animations themselves leave a lot to be desired, IMO. The emotes just seem like they're completely lacking in personality compared to female Goblins, they feel like generic attempts at badassery. Only the roar really seemed cool to me. Their normal run just seems like a cleaned up version of the clunky female Tauren run that's prevented me from getting a druid past level 5 all these years, and Running Wild looks awkward with weapons equipped (though it does look a lot better with them off). The casting animations just brought to mind that famous film scene where the guy flails showing off with the scimitar and Indy pulls out a gun and shoots him. And not in the good way. While I think it's an improvement from the male casting animations, I don't think that's saying a whole lot.
I was going to roll a Worgen just to experience the starting zone, but I don't know if I'm even bothering that much now. I guess I'm in the minority on this one but I'm really disappointed in how they've turned out. I hope the Alliance folks who actually have to stare at these models like them; personally, I'm just that more thrilled we got Goblins.

Someone already had an idea about that:

Now if only someone could get this to blizzard :(

Has it yet been answered why Worgen don't have tails?
Kyle Oct 27th 2010 10:40PM
Because they don't?
Worgen haven't had tails since their introduction, I don't see why they'd be added now. Not like they really need them, either.
Mitawa Oct 27th 2010 10:44PM
It's just... they're wolves, see. Have their tails been docked?
Tauren are "cow" people - tails.
Draenei are "goat" people - tails.
Dog people don't get tails?
Kyle Oct 27th 2010 10:46PM
Like I said, though, they've never had tails in the first place. Ever.
Yes, they're wolf-people, but perhaps because they're half humanoid they don't need a tail? Or something like that. Or maybe its just Blizzard deciding that the Worgen have never had a tail, don't need it, and look fine without it (though I realize that may not be the case with everyone).
Zeploz Oct 27th 2010 11:11PM
Gnolls are dog-people. They have tails, I think.
Worgen are people turned into Tail-less wolf people.
Tom Oct 27th 2010 11:26PM
Draenei aren't "goat-people".
Mitawa Oct 27th 2010 11:51PM
Draenei aren't goat people?
Okay. I'll tell that to ALL the people on the official forums who refer to themselves as "space goats".
;)
Mitawa Oct 27th 2010 11:55PM
Also: I'm not saying "OMG I needz a tail or Iz will quit teh game!!11!"
It's just something random I've noticed. I can't say I've ever drawn a werewolf without a tail or seen a Halloween costume of one without a tail, or read a book about one without a tail.
Yes, Worgen aren't the same as Werewolves like Tauren aren't minotaurs. I know this.
I'm commenting on the design and wondering if the oddity has been addressed.
Zanaji Oct 28th 2010 12:44AM
Gnolls arn't dog-people, they're hyena-people
Tom Oct 28th 2010 1:13AM
Why in the world would you take people on the official forums as authorities on *anything*?
Lorekin Oct 28th 2010 1:48AM
Not gonna take the time to read all the comments to see if this has been said yet or not, but the reason Worgen in WarCraft do not have tails is because they are modeled after the iconic werewolf. Watch some old horror movies- surprise surprise, no tails!
I have to admit, I'm one of the people that cried at first when I realized the playable Worgens weren't getting tails (I love watching my tail swish behind my cow butt on my main) but that being said, I understand the omission. It kinda sucks and it might take some getting used to for people expecting a perfectly anthropomorphized wolf (hurr hurr furries), but its not bad.

Well.. Taurens and Spacegoats are natural races in the game, born into their species... Worgen are cursed humans. While they resemble wolves, it's not like they are natural in any sense of the word. So comparing them isn't really valid. They are supposed to be monsters, not anatomical wolves..
Prissa Oct 28th 2010 5:58AM
I get where you're coming from, I only just now noticed they didn't have tails either. I guess it's where they drew the line and didn't want them to simply look like upright dogs. They're meant to be cursed humans.
Regarding how you've always seen werewolves with tails, check out the werewolves in the movie Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman in it.
Clo Oct 28th 2010 7:48AM
Mitawa, Draenei are NICKNAMED 'goat people'. They are not actually part goat like Tauren are part cow. Just because people call them 'space goats' does not mean they are literally part goat.
Fletcher Oct 28th 2010 12:39PM
Draenei aren't goat-people. They're Lawful Good devil-people.
*Satyrs* are goat-people.
Artificial Oct 30th 2010 5:11AM
Why don't humans have tails? They're monkey-people, right? Monkey's have tails...
Hint: No, they aren't, despite having a common evolutionary ancestor. Likewise, sorry Clo, Tauren are not "part cow" any more than Draenei are "part goat". Nor are they "cow people" any more than humans are "monkey people".
Moorit Oct 27th 2010 10:39PM
What's that snuffling sound? Is she also eating snausages while doing all this stuff?
