RedEye obviously put quite a bit of work into the composition of this piece, and I'm glad to see it did well at the contest. It was a very tough competition this year, with many fantastic videos. It can be tough to tell a good Forsaken story, but obviously the judges felt Lobine pulled it off. Congratulations!

Actually, this is where it lost me. I didn't see anything in the plot that explained why he decided he didn't care about his daughter-- he just decided, "Oh yeah, what was I thinking? I'm Forsaken, I don't care about anyone".
Up until that point, the plot was interesting. It set up a conflict in the protagonist's mind, and then instead of resolving it in a satisfying manner-- or even leaving it unresolved-- it was resolved by that "Oh, right! I don't care!" declaration.
But as Redeye said on page one of the comments, they had to cut a lot out, and perhaps this is the result of that cutting.

You mean being angry because your dead? And not caring about anyone else yet keeping on talking about your own misery?
You know, I think I would have a little more sympathy for the Forsaken mindset if they either gave them at least some resempblance of "humanity" deep inside, or make them stop asking for sympathy while not giving any back :/
Still, this was a really fun video :)

But can't you see that's the entire point of the race? They are effectively Manic-Depressive sociopaths that NEED to believe THEY are the victims, to do so they need to assume that everyone that didn't go through "their torment" needs to do so for their own twisted view of justice.
They DON'T want sympathy for being "dead", as they'd probably take that as an implication that they are somehow "weak" for having been afflicted, what they do want is for the world to only show sympathy when it understands what it's like to loose all that you once had... and to them this can only happen by inflicting their very "curse" on everything living.
I know it's a bit difficult to understand but just think of any social-isolate with a pathological need to both place him/herself above everyone else in the world while at the same time believing that she/he is the "true victim" in all of this. They are the product of a tragic story that deep down mask their envy for the living with deep hatred and a "false victim" story.

Head and shoulders way better than the love rocket piece of junk, I can't believe that thing won, cheesy 80s teen movie storyline done a thousand times with very little custom effects to sell it, just in-game material like emotes.
Very amateurish stuff by comparison.

Best machinima evar? No. But compared to the other two, particularly the just-as-cliche-if-not-more-so winning entry?
I guess the field this year must have been especially thin. Shame.

The clips at the end for the web ad, where are they from? I'm curious about the bad ass wizard chick that shows up first (I thought it was dragonage, but I can't find the origin), and the other one with the slim person jumping and stabbing someone in the neck with two knives. The rest I recognize as Mass Effect, Star Wars, SC, WoW. I wants the sauce.

The voice acting, script, sound design, video direction, editing - basically everything about this short film was absolutely top notch. It's quick but to the point. Dirty and raw. Loved it.
