Phat Loot Phriday: Keys to the Hot Rod

Throgg climbed out of the car, twirling the Hot Keys to the Hot Rod in his hand. "It's OK, I guess," Throgg replied nonchalantly. "I mean, it goes fast and makes a pleasing 'vroom' sound. And, better, has good radio stations."
"Throgg, I have to say," the blood elf sighed. "I'm just awfully impressed. It's a very dashing vehicle, especially for someone of your limited means."
"Oh, I can be plenty mean," the orc replied. "But the car only works in that place that is blowed up now. Can't drive it now, really."
The blood elf sighed, sitting down next to the vehicle. "That's a shame. I really love this hot rod."
"We can hope it will reappear one day," Throgg replied clamping his friend's shoulder. "That's what patches are for."
Keys to the Hot Rod
- Zone Restriction: Kezan
- Quest Item
- Use: Get in your hot rod! (5-sec. cooldown)
How to get rid of it: Blow up your island, preferably with the help of an angry dragon. Don't worry -- this will disappear on its own.

There are so many reasons that I'm going to play through the goblin zone, even though all my active characters are Alliance. This is only one of them. Can't wait to zoom around in that thing. ^_^
And I'm with Lolegolas and Throgg - here's to hoping a vehicle like this becomes available in a future patch, as a schematic for all engineers!
Persephanie Oct 30th 2010 8:37AM
yes that would be great but i bet anything they make the schematic like the one for mechano hog that requires exhaulted status with the goblins and the mats are rediculously over priced to where only those who spend MASS amounts of gold can get it...
-_- yes im still working on my mechano hog.

If you need any proof the Devs favor Horde over Alliance, then look no further than the Goblins. Not only are the quests more epic, but they also get one of the coolest mounts in the game(no... not this one, their racial one), and really good racials (hello, bank access? how is that fair?)
The worgen get half finished lore (and you get to roll a horde to see how your own races origin lore turns out) and no extra mounts (instead, they got lazy and your worgen form is your mount... which means no earning rep to get it on another race).

I guess the Worgen and Goblin starting zones have different themes, as do the races. Goblins just feel "cooler" but Worgen are much more srs bsns. It does suck that tons of the lore for them is in the Undead starting zone though. As an Alliance player it might make me not roll Worgen, just because I have to then roll an Undead to figure out what is going on.
I have to disagree about the mounts though, running wild is pretty awsome, even if it is a couple less mounts for the Alliance.
lownwolf Oct 29th 2010 9:26PM
I don't play ally anymore but I think I would be excited to roll a worgen and be the first race ingame that has their own unique means if transportation that no one else gets. Sounds fun
furthermore, have you played theworgen and goblin starting zones? I have and I think they're both awesome And they appeal to different kinds of people.

Differences =/= favoritism.
Blizzard can't make everything exactly the same for every class/race/faction. That doesn't mean they deliberately screw over any of them. *eyeroll*
Noyou Oct 29th 2010 9:57PM
Yeah they love them so much they made a zone restriction on it. Sure it's cool but you can only drive it in one zone. They have to make horde more attractive to play for all the kids. And the 20% or so hardcore PvPers reap the benefits :) I'm fanning the fires a little here. I think the developers have the hard (and sometimes very unenviable) task of making the game very balanced. Flavor wise I would say some of the horde mounts seem cooler but then they go and throw in the chicken hawk :p 90% of my toons are alliance but I will be rolling a goblin something and tauren pally somewhere down the line....one thing I never understood about class/race QQ is everyone has access to roll any toon in the game. If you can't beat em join em?

"(instead, they got lazy and your worgen form is your mount... which means no earning rep to get it on another race)."
In what world does this make Blizzard lazy? They still have to create the animation for it as far as I know.
As for other Alliance races not being able to grind rep for a Worgen mount.. Who cares? ;s I sure as hell don't. I'm sick of grinding rep with the factions.
Also bank access as a racial is fine with me, Most players already carry 20+ slot bags that don't require you to visit a bank for a while.

More evidence of devs favoritism fo horde over alliance- new names planned for all Horde faction capital cities:
Blizzgrimmar
Thunder Blizz
The Blizzdercity
Blizzardmoon City
Planned changes also include the neutral sanctuary cities:
Shatblizz City
Dalablizz
On top of that, there are new Horde war cries too:
"Blizz and thunder!"
"For the Blizzhorde!"
Why oh why does Blizzard hate the Alliance so? *sob *sniff

Is bank access on a cooldown really a huge issue? It's essentially something everyone can get as an Engineer or by doing the Argent Tournament a lot. Also, the Worgen had the best DPS racial in the beta for a while before they changed it. But I digress.
Like the people before said, it's all different themes. If you like wacky stuff, then YEAH, you'd enjoy the Goblin area more. The Worgen have the dark, gloomy feel. That's pretty much how it works out. If the Goblins were suddenly serious business and the Worgen were the new WACKY race, then we'd have a shift in the attention.
I don't think this is Blizzard favoring the Horde over the Alliance. I think this is more Blizzard having way too much fun with the Goblin theme. And who can blame them? The goblins look like they're a blast (sorry) to write questlines about.
With the Worgen, though, I think they can't do too much wacky stuff like that because it would kill the mood that Blizzard is trying to create. (even though you do have the funny quests in Gilneas like the one where you have to continuously do errands for an old lady in order to get her to safety after the Cataclysm) You still get really good questlines and from what I hear, both races are unique and fun enough that everyone should go through their starting areas at least once.
Also, I love Running Wild. If that's not something that can define a race after all the racial disputes can be set aside, it'd be this. Goblins get bank access and discounts, but dang it, I AM MY OWN MOUNT. That's neat to me. It may not be to other people, and that's fair.
CrimsonKing Oct 29th 2010 11:15PM
I think Worgen and Goblins are both cool in their own rights. Worgen have more depth to them, and Goblins have a lot of cool gimmicks and honestly that's what Goblins really are is just a bundle of gimmicks, they lack the depth of the Worgen and their story, so there are really ups and downs for both races. It is a bit disappointing though that Worgen don't get to finish their original story at least yet, but there are some interesting Worgen stuff going on later on especially in Eastern Kingdoms. Also running wild looks awesome for what it is now and it's technically not even finished yet. I do have to agree that I think that Blizzard has a special spot in their heart for the Horde, but I don't think it's as overwhelming as your trying to make it out to be, there's just a lot going for the Alliance as well and I don't think either faction is truly lacking in the awesome factor.
Ty Oct 29th 2010 11:52PM
I see his point here. While I agree that Differences=/= favortism, i am pretty PO'd about the story not being continued on the Alliance side. I mean, wtf. Make Silverpine a contested territory (along with darkshore) so we can finish the Goddamn story! I dont want to just suddenly help the night elves that have nothing to do with me! =(

I don't really get this line of thinking. If you think goblins are so cool, then play one come Cataclysm. It's not like you are restricted from playing one simply because you prefer to play Alliance.
I mean... I do... I get the faction thing. You've got your pride, you've got your "home." But also, what you've got here is just your opinion.
My opinion, however, differs greatly from yours and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way: I personally think *both* goblins and worgen are cool for very different, very iconic reasons and therefore will most definitely be playing both.
Faction, schmaction. I'm gonna be having all the fun I can have in Cataclysm. And from what I've seen, there's gonna be fun a-plenty. Seriously, your bags and your bank are gonna be so full of fun, you're gonna have to roll another bank alt just for all the fun you're having. Do you like fun? Do you? Have some! Seriously.
Artificial Oct 30th 2010 5:29AM
If you only ever play Alliance, or you only ever play Horde, you're only playing half the game. If you choose to only play half the game, you can't blame Blizzard for *your* choices...
Jet Oct 30th 2010 12:50AM
@ Greg: They also gave the Horde most of Blizzenvale.
Miranda Kali Oct 30th 2010 7:56AM
This totally needs to be a craftable, BoE engineering mount like the chopper... with a few minor tweaks.
While it can be used as a standard ground mount, once you push that space bar to the metal, the wheels invert on the y-axis and glorious, blue flame erupts from the hubs, sending the craft skyward.
Yes, once this baby hits eighty-eight miles an hour, your gonna see some serious shit.
...And the license plate on needs a slight modification to the goblin "time icon + dollar icon" to read "Outta + time icon"
MusedMoose Oct 30th 2010 9:15AM
....I think that's the only possible way I could be convinced to pay real money for a mount, if it was one like you described. *THAT* would be worth $25, or however much the sparklepony costs. Seriously. My inner engineer is shedding tears of joy at the thought of that mount. ^_^
