I just wish the blizz downloader would work on my school's network. I'm stuck downloading them via 3rd party sites, which sucks tbh since quite a few of them seem sketchy.

That's a pity (and that's all I'll say about that). But that doesn't mean you're completely stuck. You should notice that the Launcher / downloader will set up all the right files even if it can't get any data to start building said files. Stop the Launcher. Replace that file with the fully downloaded patch file you got from a 3rd party source. Now run the Launcher again. Notice how the Launcher will now inspect your file for corruption? Any modifications (i.e. malware) of the patch file would be identified as corruption and the Launcher would attempt to get the pieces required to fix it. Granted - you won't be able to fix the file thanks to your school. You'll have to go waste their bandwidth getting the entire file again (probably from a different source). But if the Launcher is happy with the file, you can be reasonably sure that there's no 3rd party nasty surprises along for the ride.
