Elementals are attacking Azeroth

1:30 p.m. EDT We're getting several reports in that elementals and cultists are attacking Azeroth.
1:37 p.m. EDT It looks like there are rifts that open in various zones in Azeroth, and elementals spawn. You can kill the elementals as they spawn.
1:40 p.m. EDT There are quest people you can talk to in Orgrimmar and Stormwind, outside of the banks.
1:49 p.m. EDT You can access a Mysterious Device after you kill a spawn of elementals in any zone.
1:59 p.m. EDT There's an uptick in the number of earth quakes.
2:07 p.m. EDT We're getting reports that this event is now active in the EU as well and the US/NA servers.
2:29 p.m. EDT Tons of quest info in screenshot form after the break.
2:55 p.m. EDT All of the Alliance quests are documented after the break; the Horde quests are very similar.
5:50 p.m. EDT At some point, perhaps not in this phase of the invasion, the elementals will begin spawning in the cities. If you kill them in the city from their big spawn point, then you get a daily quest object/item that lets you go through a portal and kill one of the two new daily bosses for this event: Prince Sarsarun or Kai'ju Gahz'rilla.
That's all we have right now; however, please be aware that we'll update this post with any additional clarifying information we get in.
Lots more screenshots after the break, including many of the quests.

What kind of special stuff?

Is there any indication on the map(s) where the elementals will attack like the attacks prior to the release of Naxx and BC?
jrb Nov 1st 2010 2:52PM
interestingly i experienced my first two elemental rifts in nagrand. pretty sure the cataclysm doesn't work that far out! ;-)

I think it does, though. I mean, the elements on Azeroth and in Outland are certainly connected- otherwise, why were they summoning Ahune to Zangermarsh? I mean, he's supposed to be Neptulon's servant, but Neptulon is on Azeroth. It seems like the elements are universal.
Allessof Nov 1st 2010 3:13PM
actually, continuing my thought....it seems like the elementals are like Plato's Forms, they exist on a higher plane, and merely instantiate themselves in the physical world. So Azeroth, Outland and every other world will have elementals, who are merely avatars of the ideal elementals who exist on the Elemental Plane.
Pyromelter Nov 1st 2010 3:13PM
It's not the elements that are coordinating amongst themselves; remember, deathwing, cho'gall, sinestra all have a lot of ties to outland. The last we saw of Sinestra in-game is on the netherwing ledge. She is purported to be the last boss in the Bastion of Twilight raid, so she's definitely still around. It wouldn't be that hard for her to spearhead elemental invasions on outland while cho'gall is leading the invasion in azeroth.

The shamans at The Throne of Elements in Nagrand are involved.

All will burn!

And I just missed the start of this event...I was doing some Dia de los Muertos stuff during lunch and didn't notice anything untoward occurring.

Dear Work,
You provide a conundrum.
You allow me the cash flow to sustain myself via, sustenance, shelter, a monthly WoW subscription and many other conveniences and / or necessities.
You also restrict me from protecting Azeroth from the elemental invasion.
In short, Work, you can go screw yourself. I refuse to be productive for the rest of the day and instead will be scouring screenshots of what I'll be participating in come 8pm.
Sincerely,
Tanddori.

I'm curious as to the elemental rifts. Any horde seen them in northrend? I've seen a post on wowhead....
Confirmed Alliance/Neutral Northrend Rift Spawn Points
Air: Borean Tundra - Magmar, due north of the west end of the Fizzcrank Airstrip.
Earth: Storm Peaks - Gnoll camp due west of K3, east of the sleeping giant
Fire: Zul'drak - Reliquary of Pain, a bit east of the teleportation platform, in the empty field.
Water: Dragonblight - Wintergarde Keep, on the ramp leading down to the "middle tier" of the village.
Didn't know if any horde similar spots had been found.
