The Queue: Veronica Day

Fallout: New Vegas has been my poison of choice for the last few days (in between playing World of Warcraft, obviously). Do you know how weird it is to be running around a post-apocalyptic wasteland for hours with an NPC voiced by someone you've met in person? I'll give you a hint: It's really weird.
dawnseven asked:
Now that we're practically on the eve of release, have there been any real changes to fishing in the Cataclysm beta? At last year's BlizzCon, Blizzard said it wanted to make it more interesting. Is there anything new besides new fish and new dailies? Is it still the same ol' boring thing?
The only mechanical change to fishing that I'm aware of is the cog wheel whilst fishing is now a fish icon. Everything else is more or less the same. Truthfully, I don't ever expect Blizzard to completely change how fishing works. Quite a lot of people actually enjoy the "boring" method of fishing, and I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I'm one of them. It's relaxing in its own way.
stormtwooped asked:
I've been noticing that profession cooldowns have been all over the place lately. Sometimes I'll do a transmute and the cooldown is only 2 hours, while other times I've seen 6 and even 14 hours. If there some kind of dynamic cooldown in the game now, or are the devs just messing with us?
Transmutes now reset at the same time every single day. Rather than a 24-hour cooldown that forces you to log in at the same exact time every day or risk pushing it further and further back, it resets at the same time daily quests reset. No matter what, you will be able to transmute once per day.
For example: If daily quests reset at 12:00 a.m. and you do your transmute at 11:58 p.m., your cooldown will reset in 2 minutes. You forget to do your next transmute immediately and end up doing it at 7 p.m. Your next transmute will still be available at 12:00 a.m. that night.
Steph asked:
Why did I not get a Headless Horseman mount? One of my guildmates this year got it on all four of his level 80s.
I'm sure this was a rhetorical question and you didn't ask this seriously, but I'm going to answer it anyway because this sentiment is going around a lot after this holiday. The answer is: Random loot is random. It sucks, but that's how it goes. It really sucked this year, because they made the mount significantly more common and yet many people walked away without one at all. It's really not fun when you have multiple guildies with multiple Headless Horseman mounts and you can't get one for your main.
My significant other was one of those people who wanted one on her main very badly and couldn't get it, while others had one on every single max-level alt they had. It's lame, but that's how it goes. It really makes you wish they would go back to the system where you could spam the boss all day long if you wanted to do so.
B.J. asked:
Has there been any news lately on rated battlegrounds?
They will exist as a thing you can do in Cataclysm. That's about it. Sorry.

Took me a little bit, but I found the first post EVER for the WoW Insider. Noticing it's also 2,260 pages of blogging, as of this comment. How's it feel to be coming up on 5 years of a successful blogging news site, and what will the staff here do on your 5th-year anniversary?
Holy crap. I don't think any of us even realized our five-year anniversary was so close. I've been a part of WoW Insider for three of those five years. That's a lot of blogging! We'll figure out something to do for our anniversary. If you have any ideas, we would love to hear them.

for some reason, that screen shot looks like what westfall would look like from a first person view.

I don't recall Ol' Blanchy having two heads, though.

A whole day? Just for meee? ^.^ lol
Gorehorn Nov 1st 2010 1:36PM
Well, being the spoilsport I am I feel the need to explain the headline for today's Queue. The shown NPC is named VERONICA and was voiced by The Guild's own Felicia DAY.
BUT as it's November 1, and you're probably a saint it's still your day (although you'll have to share it with the other saints)

How long till someone does the ultimate.... erm... thing that comes before second, and goes and comments on that oldest WoW Insider post (I didn't say the F word, don't downvote me bro!)
Mayhew Nov 1st 2010 1:11PM
Seems like it's going to be a pretty long time, since commenting doesn't seem to be enabled on that post. :)

That's why it's loved by taurens around the world...of warcraft.

improved comment system!

Redo the whole damn website, the content is great but ugh... so many scripts and content from dozens of other websites drives my noscript nuts. The comment system is messy and unpredictable, editing your password and picture just plain doesn't work without going to another website entirely. For some reason every time I load the next comment page it puts me right down the bottom at the reply form, TWICE. If I happen to scroll up to start reading before the page finishes loading all the random rubbish from other sites I get forced back down to the reply form.
Nothing against you bloggers, you just need a new website.

"The answer is: Random loot is random. It sucks, but that's how it goes."
The final boss of WoW is the RNG.
It's not the Old Gods.
It's not the Titans.
It's not the Burning Legion.
It's the RNG.
We will fight our way to the end game in the final expansion of WoW beyond the core of Azeroth, beyond the Twisting Nether and will gather as a raid in a dark silent room. Then it will start as a whisper and slowly build into an earth shattering roar until one word is uttered by the enveloping blackness, "/roll".
Xid Nov 1st 2010 11:30AM
What does he drop?
cygnus Nov 1st 2010 11:31AM
The thing you have been farming for ever and never drop. For me? http://www.wowhead.com/item=17204/eye-of-sulfuras
MikeLive Nov 1st 2010 11:34AM
I'm guessing the final phase of the fight will be navigating a maze in the shape of C++ code, and you have to find the line that calls rand() and replace it with 1.
Guladian Nov 1st 2010 11:56AM
His loot table will be every Item any boss ever dropped in any instance in the history of WOW
Random Loot is Random
Scooter Nov 1st 2010 12:05PM
I have faces this boss well over one thousand times (no exaggeration) and I have yet to obtain more than a few near useless trinkets. I have seen epic loot drop once! But alas... I was 2nd place in the "/roll". I do not hate this boss! No... I hate that one looter who immediately deleted the mount because she realized already had a copy.
She could have traded it...*sniff* :(
Mort Nov 1st 2010 1:18PM
After years of wiping, I finally succeeded in defeating Lady RNG... The Zulian Tiger, Razzishi Raptor and White Hawkstrider all dropped for me within less than 24 hours of each other. The raptor and tiger dropped in the same ZG run, even!
And yea verily did I get cussed out in /G.
Xaklo Nov 1st 2010 1:55PM
@Xid [What does he drop?]
Whatever loot you most desire. Thing is, it will ALWAYS go to a PuG character.
SamLowry Nov 1st 2010 3:37PM
How about we go back to the holiday vendor system from the very first Brewfest--you do the dailies, you get the tickets, you buy the goodies with the tickets.
