I don't use Recount as an epeen measure--I only post results if a friend and I are single-digits apart in dps or total damage as a curiosity, or to friends in a private chat channel if there's a particularly good (or particularly awful) Dungeon Finder group. But mostly what I use it for is to gauge my own performance against others in the group to become a better player. My guild's raid time is earlier than I can get home from work, so I only get into ICC every other week or so. With infrequent appearances and less than top-flight gear, it's a useful tool to see how I compare with the everyday raiders and which rotation is working better for me.
