Cataclysm Live Beta Stream: Choose my goblin shaman adventure
Choose the adventures of WoW Insider's Robin Torres as she levels multiple alts in the Cataclysm beta, live every Monday and Wednesday at 1 p.m. EDT.
Note: The stream is of the Cataclysm beta. It and the chat below are full of spoilers. You have been warned.
Update: The stream is now over. If you would like to see the epic quests we completed today, please click on the image above to watch the video replay.
Hello and welcome to the live version of Choose My Adventure (beta edition). It's Wednesday, so our adventures are taking place for the Horde! Roblinator the goblin shamanator won the polls again, and this time she's not stuck. So we are beginning in the Lost Isles, just after the cutscene shows the fate of our ship.
Join me after the break while I narrate, read quests and take requests from the chat room. The show will run for at least an hour and be viewable on video, if you weren't able to watch it live. Also after the break are some notes and polls.

Guild announcement
I have decided to eliminate <Blog Lurker>, the level 1 to 20 guild, and re-absorb everyone from there back into <It came from the Blog>. As it turns out, we don't need the extra space in IcftB, and it's pretty unwieldy to have people level so quickly out of the lowbie guild into the midbie guild. If you are in <Blog Lurker>, please ask someone in <It came from the Blog> to invite you back. Sorry for the inconvenience. <Blogling> will remain our event guild and <The Insiders> is thriving as level 55+. We'll adjust things as we go along should it be necessary.
Notes
In the poll below, please choose which Horde character you want me to play next Wednesday.
I don't know if I'm going to actually follow what you vote on this next one. After all, you shaman voters always choose enhancement and I'm really more of a caster kinda gal. I'd like to really test out a shaman the way I think I'm most likely to play it. So if you do choose something other than elemental, please sell it to me in the comments.
If you haven't voted for Monday's Alliance character, you can do so below.
Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in <It came from the Blog>. Guild ranks of "Blog Lurker" or above can invite, so /whisper Robiness or any online member. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules -- basically, don't be a funsucker! Visit the guild FAQ for more details.

Notes
- In case you missed it, I'm taking orc mage off of the polls because the starting quests are only slightly changed.
- Obviously, if I want to play Robinemia, I'll have to do it on my own time. /sniff
- We have now covered tauren paladin, troll druid and orc mage through a few levels.
- I know I'll still get asked, but my official stance on worgen females is that I love them. I love their look, their sound, their animations -- all of it. Forsaken huntress, goblin somethingorother and gnome priestess are still my top choices for what to play first in Cataclysm, but I will definitely make a worgen at some point.
- Regardless of Alliance or Horde bias, I highly recommend that everyone take a character through the worgen-only quests to experience them. It's an immersive story with a deliciously dark ambiance.
- Also, Lorna Crowley is cool.
- So are detective quests.
- If you are arachnophobic, however, you pretty much want to stay off of the entire continent of the Eastern Kingdoms -- unless you find that killing those bugs are good therapy. I know I do.
- Druids are boring and a little underpowered previous to cat form, but become unstoppable damage-wise once they hit level 8. Getting cat form so early is a welcome change to the druid leveling experience and a good way to experiment with DPS feral early on.
- I pretty much played chopsticks on the keyboard during my battles in cat form and never was in danger. (I know the normal exaggeration is "facerolled," but I couldn't have facerolled through battles, since I was too busy narrating the experience. Well, I guess I could have, but it would have sounded funny.)
- Voice from the past: Speaking of sounding funny, I guess I should watch Cake Boss before this goes live to practice my goblin accent.
In the poll below, please choose which Horde character you want me to play next Wednesday.

You'd better warn people that some of the language in the chat might be NSFW.
You'll have people having sissy fits otherwise.

The girl doing this live stream is ANNOYING as hell...Why does she have to read every single thing on the screen regarding the quests????
Shes giving everyone migraines. Hey lady, we can read, theres no point in you doing your oh so scary talented acting dialogue......k?
/facepalm.....annoying Roblinawhtever.....
Robin Torres Nov 3rd 2010 5:46PM
Hey Nightfall31,
Sorry you're not a fan! You should probably read up on what you spend your time listening to before you listen, however. Taken from the first page above:
"Join me after the break while I narrate, read quests and take requests from the chat room."
You were warned and decided to get that migraine anyway. :)
Artificial Nov 3rd 2010 5:49PM
She has to read everything on the screen because the loss of resolution while streaming often makes things unreadable for many.
Also, she's giving "everyone" migraines? I believe by that you mean she gave you one, and since you're obviously the center of the universe, that means "everyone", right? This attitude is, not surprisingly, common amongst people who are complete jackasses. Indeed I've always suspect that's what makes you such...
I know you're far too self-centered to consider other people, but for your own self-interest, you might want to note that *acting* a bit less like a jackass, regardless of what you think to yourself, will make it easier to get your way with others, which does benefit you in the end.

Wow...where did that come from? Learn to express yourself a little better...or not at all.
I dig all the commentary...I think she sounds charming.

Robin's voice is awesome. You shut up.

You can't troll a drama mama. Lisa and Robin are immune!!

Blood Elf Warrior lol (though you haven't made one yet).

To be honest, the Worgen zone is not have as exciting as the Goblins. Out of the starting box, Goblins get the Hot Rod, the whole zone of Kezan which has an amazing amount of character, and you can watch the amazing micro-rocket chicken get assembled, AND talk to a baby raptor with a giant disc on its head. Not to mention every single thing that happens afterwards (epic giant robotic chicken rising from the depths! Robo-shark!)
Worgen? Run around and hit bad Worgen. Predetermined horse routes. More Worgen pwning. More horse routes. Their area being so segmented really destroys the feeling of their city. I was disappointed I wasn't allowed to roam and see all the gothic texture. The most exiting things from this zone were the excellently modelled horse carriage (not being sarcastic, I honestly hope Engineering gets to make one), and the new model of ogre-giant-eitin thing.
They could've gone for a so much more immersible experience for Worgen; the Goblin zone is proof of that, but it ends up having even less character and variety than the DK starting zone.
Chokaa Nov 4th 2010 6:39AM
The goblin zone is the super steampunk zone and the worgen get the semi-traditional rpg action. Some people will prefer one over the other, for sure. It would be nice if you could roam a bit more in Gilneas though. It should be on those personality tests you can find online hehe.

While I enjoy these choose my adventure sessions quite a bit, I do have 1 critique I hope you'll take to heart and not take as needless trolling.
Your camera control! I was nearly pulling my hair out when you got into the gyrocopter and flew over to the alliance ships - you didn't look forward, instead focused looking backwards? When you flew the rocket over to the main island, you again looked away from your destination, instead focusing on your character? And last, when you deployed the town in the box, you didnt look down when the city was being deployed?
I nearly cried.
If you've ever watched any "Let's Play"s on Youtube - you'd know that showing off elements of the game and your environment are what people wanna see!
Good job though, really entertaining stuff.

hi, i have never managed to watch one of these live but i do enjoy at least watching the replay of it the few times i do remember to download it
i am asking though, do you run one of these on the weekend? as it is now i always miss it live because i am at work hehe
side question: do you guys think i should apply for some days off work for cata release (lie about the reason of course) considering that IF i am still at the job it would be under a new contract since my current one expires before then?
Robin Torres Nov 5th 2010 12:19PM
The problem with weekends is that The Spawn and The Spousal Unit are home and so I have to make special appointments for quiet time to stream. I do often have events on weekends, however. Like this one: http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/10/30/it-came-from-the-blog-hallows-end-event-live-stream/
To answer your side question, in my opinion, I don't think you should take off of work to play. The first few days of any expansion are rough. Even if the servers are working perfectly right off the bat, there will still be a bajillion people in all of the popular zones, competing for quest spawns and lagging you out. Unless you are planning to go for world firsts, I think that taking time off will be a big disappointment.
Hmmm I think this is a good topic for a Breakfast Topic.
Cbeefman Nov 5th 2010 12:40PM
ah, those pesky spawn units. dont have any of my own yet.
I agree with your answer to my side question though, the more and more I think about it I realize its a silly thing to do. the previous expansions I was "late" by 3-5 days so that allowed me to experience the zone with less trouble while still having enough people around so it didnt feel empty.
I would be greatly honored if I saw this as a Breakfast Topic, Inception ftw.
