The spell alerts Wugan was talking about are indeed being supplied by Totemtimers, not Blizzard. The alerts themselves are recolored versions of mage's Hot Streak for Lava Surge, and Enhancement's Maelstrom Weapon for Fulmination (9 stacks)Given the criteria for the in-game auras, I don't know why things like Slice n Dice, which is a player-triggered buff gets an aura, while Lava Surge, which is a completely random occurrence, doesn't get one. Classic anti-Shamantic behavior, eh?

Well it kind of goes to show you that the best way to display visual procs and buffs is with your own custom addons. The blizzard aura things are pretty cool, I definitely admit that, but they can't really be customized, moved, resized (only thing you can do is turn down their opacity or turn them off). Power Auras and dot timers also can track your temporary effects over time, trinket procs, other buffs and debuffs on yourself and on your targets, and the default blizzard UI will likely not be matching that level of customization, ever.
