Breakfast Topic: Oh hell no

Oh ho ho, Mr. Tough Guy wants to fish in the same pools as me, huh? Interesting. You got moxie, kid, but I am a grand master fisherman. You can't beat my amazing bobber skills. That's right, you like that? One cast. One cast and it's in the pool. What are you on, cast number three? Pshaw, I'm cracking up over here. Yeah, that's right, fly away. You fish with the best, you die like the rest.
I am stupidly competitive at all the wrong things. Do I care that we haven't downed the Lich King on heroic yet? I do, but not as much as I care about absolutely driving off this little turd from my fishing spots while finishing up my Accomplished Angler achievement. It boils my blood and roils my stomach when I imagine this troglodyte casting into my precious pool and stealing another minuscule chance to find the elusive magical lobster.
I know you all have gone to great lengths to ruin someone's day over something so stupid and so insignificant that you look back and wonder, how could I be so mean? So vindictive ... so much passion! Sound off in the comments about your most vindictive streak.
Update, 11:52 p.m.: I found Mr. Pinchy.

My best friend is a druid herbalist, and tends to get a kick out of flying around and robbing someone else (regardless of faction) of "his" herb nodes.
Of course, being a skinner, I've had someone follow me around a bit, trying to loot skins the moment the loot window came up. It never worked, which makes me wonder why they didn't, I dunno, ask me NICELY for a share of the leather. /shrug

I've just never understood the "stealing your skinning" people. It's so ridiculously rude if the person you're following is actually a skinner themselves, and what do you benefit? You risk every kill that they'll skin the creature before you. What is the reason to not just kill mobs yourself?
Arrowsmith Nov 5th 2010 8:19AM
Hal,
The only guess I can come up with is that they aren't a skinner and either want the leather for Leatherworking or to sell on the AH. As an example, said best friend dropped skinning for Herbalism to make it easier to gets mats for his raiding flasks.
And he and I have a deal for Cataclysm. He's going to stay an Herbalist, and I sell half of all leather I skin to him at a slightly reduced price. Only slightly though, given how much bank he'll be making from selling herbs on the way to 85.
Or the player is just a d!ck and is trying to invoke schadenfreude (*sings* making me feel happy I'm not you!)

If someone is following around a skinner to try and ninja skin their kills that's just low. However, having a druid skinner myself I have been known to tail players around sholozaar whilst they're doing the nesingwary quests. If they aren't skinning them I'll nab the leather and heal/buff them if they're the same faction or help kill stuff if they're not. After one or two kills with me helping they seem to get the idea and tag a shedload of mobs for me to starfall/hurricane to death so it's a win-win.
It also avoids me farming leather off the mobs they need to kill for quests.

If I notice somebody leaving a trail of dead bodies, I'll ask nicely if I can skin them. Otherwise, I just skin my own kills.

I have happy...well, happyish memories of farming the Jeeves schematic on my engineer. As a little devious gnome rogue, I soon discovered an orc hunter was killing mobs in the area. After a quick glance, I noticed that he wasn't de-engineering the corpses.
We made a silent deal. I could de-engineer all the corpses I wanted, and occasionally jumped on the enemies that he'd marked.
It's sometimes fun to see how the Alliance and Horde team up without words...on PvE/RP servers anyway.

I am a skinner, and my favorite place for farming gold is in Azshara, looping around the blue dragon area. Whenever I see someone else there, I start rushing and being competitive as all heck trying to beat them in the number of kills.
It always toasts my buns when they see me aiming at something, and shoot it before I can. /twitch

I was leveling up an alt in the hinterlands one day. I was trying to kill some of the moonkin in the area. Then an alliance warrior comes into the area and starts charging everything I got after tapping it first. Wasn't too concern because I still had to do the muisek quest. Whenever he kille something I would run over, use the drum which makes the body disappear. After I did it one kill he immediately logs and creates a horde character and proceeds to rant at me because that particular mob had an epic on it that he didn't get before the body went poof. Karma is a b@@@@. Good times.

@Daisy -
I never skinned a druid before, what do they drop?
JT Nov 5th 2010 8:07AM
Mining/herbing a node while someone else is fighting off a mob right next to it is pretty low, especially on a pve realm when the other person can't even attack you.
Gendou Nov 5th 2010 8:45AM
Very much agreed. I despise that, enough to call a person out on it if they're my faction.
Not enough to log onto an opposing-faction alt and do the same, however. My rage does not trump my laziness.

@Caligulla
This is the saddest thing I've ever heard. I still try to not be dick even if my entire server is full of them. A little courtesy can go a long way.
There's lots of murder going on in the world too... bandwagon time!!

fortunately i dont have this problem on my herbalist.
hunter - land, send in pet, get herb, shoot.
its a real pain in the neck on my druid miner though (yes i know i did it the wrong way around)
Cyno01 Nov 5th 2010 2:25PM
I love when people try this on my rogue. I just vanish and the mob goes and attacks them, then i get to mine the node.

My best moment was not only mine but my guilds as well. I was on a lowbie, so guy killed me cause I was doing an escort quest that flagged me cause some of those used to do that. So I bitched about it in guild chat remember the name, and then moved on...Then the guy did it 4 more times. Then it was on like donkey kong. We literally had a guy get on an ally toon and follow this guy around, and then we as a guild with about 90 active players would swoop down on whatever town he happned to be in and destroy it, killing quest givers, inn keepers, you name it, it died. We did that for about a week whilst taking turns on Ally toons asking him how his questing was going. Good times.

My poor Alliance. :'(
Narayana Nov 5th 2010 8:48AM
I had something similar happen to me. Back in TBC, I was questing with my Paladin in the Barrens. An escort quest flagged me for PvP and some chump came by and killed me while I was fending off mobs from the NPC. I quickly logged onto my lvl 70 mage killed the guy and proceeded to camp him for a good hour before he gave up and stopped rezzing.
At one point, he actually logged on a horde toon and asked me why I was killing him.

I did something similar. I was farming ogres on my mage near ring of blood when some alliance guys decided it would be fun to gank a toilet paper wrapped mage .. well after dying 3 times and corpse running i sit down in the middle of ring of blood and waited . My revenge awaits . for next 2.5h i've been rezz sheep the healer freeze every1 in place and wipe whole group. At some point they called some friends to help but ... silence healer sheep other 1 and byebye tank :) they gave up with 8 levels 70 and 4 levels 75-70 . Well 2.5h wasted but hell a sweet revenge . Some horde guys been flying by and asking WTF I've been doing . THERAPY !!!
