I don't know much about playing a paladin and even less about the previous shockadin spell, so if this is something that anyone who plays a paladin would know, my apologies. But I have to ask:What's the PvP viability of this shockadin? I'm still undecided on my future paladin's specs, and the thought of being a ranged caster with impressive bursts who's also encased in plate has some appeal. ^_^ Any thoughts on this from people who know what they're talking about are much appreciated, thank you.

At least in bg's, i feel like an unkillable god. Holding LM solo against 3 opponents while waiting for help is oodles of fun. Yes I said oodles. =D

Well, I'm no PvP expert, I don't even PvP regularly, but I have some observations I can share. If you know what your doing and you're properly specced and geared, you can put out a nice amount of DPS. That combined with being a spec that is primarily focused around healing, you have a nice mana pool, and you're covered in plate, you seem like a pretty formidable foe.I haven't tried a Shockadin seriously in PvP, so remember, these are just observations. If you would like a guide so you can try this yourself, I would try try this guidehttp://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/775323-Shockadins-the-return

From what I've seen and read, Shockadin is a pretty effective and somewhat common PvP method for pallies, certainly at the current time. Healing + survivability + surprising damage makes for a nasty opponent.

Holy paladin's are certainly viable in pvp. I wouldn't go around calling us a caster just yet, but our offensive capability has been enormously buffed with talents like Denounce, and the buff coming to Exorcism in the Beta is huge. Currently on live, I'm nearly unkillable in bg's. I have about 1300 resilience, and due to the Protector of the Innocent talent and Blessed Life we're incredibly hard to take down. Mixed with surprising burst from chain casting Exorcism and a well placed holy shock and you will catch many opponents off guard, who are likely used to facing the old holy pally, who was nearly as impenetrable, but lacking any offensive capability whatsoever. It's definitely entertaining to do ironman every single time I'm in WSG with the opposing team just trailing me as I make my rounds :D TLDR: If you're geared, you can't be killed in BG's without chain silences.
I've been PvPing as shockadin in the 60-69 bracket. It's probably not a good indication of their balance at 80, but it is oodles of fun. You've got some very nice self healing, as well as having impressive damage output, plus no one expects a ranged pallie.

I don't get it- I always felt like exorcism was a liability in battlegrounds. Every single paladin spell is of the holy school, and if even one opponent with half a brain sees you charging up a spell (exorcism) with a cast time you'll probably be locked out of doing anything useful for a while.I'll stick to the instant casts, myself.Yeah, I cackled every time I spotted a paladin casting exorcism in battlegrounds when I was leveling my mage.

Take a look at denounce: 50% chance for an insta-cast exorcism every time you cast holy shock.

I'm not any good at pvp. That said, in my shockadin spec (with Blessed Life, FINALLY USEFUL), between Word of Glory heals, judging, Holy Shock, and Exorcism, I was able to burn down a hunter and her pet in Halaa the other day. That never would have worked beforehand.

Since 4.0.1 kicked off, my survivability as a Holy Pally in battlegrounds has been absolutely amazing. Taking hits while specked with Blessed Life, I can take repeated hits as long as I'm not stunlocked, and just keep walking while spamming HoSho and WoG on myself. This makes holding down a node in AB rather nice (LM is a personal fav to hold down), makes carrying the flag in WSG or even EotS pretty awesome (as long as I have 1-2 backups), and sometimes, it's just fun to see the otherside play "Kill the !@#$ pally!" while someone on my team caps *whatever* for that BG. I've had as many as four opponents wacking away...and I keep walking. Juggernaut seems the appropriate term...but I'm still partial to Indestructopally. :)So yes Virginia, the Shocky is reborn. I respecked there fully today...and am just tickled as pink as my raid box that the speck is alive and well again.

Given that the talent builds for a normal PvP healing setup and a Shockadin setup are very similar, it looks to be quite viable. I'm simply itching to try this out now that I know of it.
